After significant thought and frustration, I believe I figured out why we remain average. As Celkat noted earlier, many of us have been willing to put our money where our mouth is, and it feels like it is just throwing good money after bad. However, if an inspirational coach showed a vision to change, the loyalty in most of us would dive in and support in a heartbeat. In the last ten years, there have been an unbelievable amount of guys who ended up playing in the NFL— many of which barely started or played at Miami. Long story short, the talent was here, but the kids just weren’t getting developed. If you look at all the dynasty’s— the coaching staffs all had great assistant coaches— who eventually became head coaches. This is where we are getting beaten. Don’t get me wrong, Shannon was not a CEO but awesome coordinator, and Golden was never even a good Coordinator- maybe staffer.

But if we really want to creat a new Miami and compete, and pull five stars on the norm, we have to start paying for and getting top notch Coordinators. We need guys that are going to develop the kids when the head coach can’t. I’m not saying anything about our current staff or whether we have some of these pieces already. I personally think Enos has that potential. But Baker is way out of his league right now. Our special teams plays like they don’t even have a coach. Our linebackers obviously are either poorly coached or have peaked, and our offensive line - well is our offensive line (this could be such piss poor coaching and recruiting in the past, so hard to tell given the inexperience.).
