A dumpoff to Mallory parallel to the line of scrimmage with his feet set, on TVD's LEFT side, on the same side of the field Jermaine Johnson was lined up on. Nothing with Mallory in motion or with any forward momentum at all for that matter. Mallory has no wiggle, he's not going to make a defender miss and pick up yards. Hell, I was surprised he even picked up any yardage there after catching the ball at a dead stop with a defender closing in on him. If that's Brevin Jordan then maybe that play works.

Our offense was on fire, call something more aggressive there. Maybe something over the middle(Mallory already made one great catch in traffic over the middle, they have no one who could match up with Rooster in space). Maybe roll the pocket to the right and either allow TVD to find an open man or give him a chance to use his legs to pick up four yards. Especially since Johnson was lined up on the left side there, roll the pocket to the right away from him and TVD probably has lots of time to throw or room to run.

Looking back at the play more, it looked like Smith ran a slant that looked like it was supposed to be a "pick" on the defender who was manned up on Mallory. It wasn't great execution by Smith there. If he runs a better route and Mallory is wide open then maybe Lashlee is credited with a great call there and lauded for his second half offense. Just feel like we were on such a roll on offense that there were better options. Put it all on TVD's arm or legs on that play or call something for Rooster there, and not leave the success of the play on Smith's ability to execute a pick.
