We all have our opinion. The truth never did anything but set us free. Just finding a black person that agrees with you doesn't make it or him correct. In fact this is divisive if you want to know the truth.

I gave him the respect of listening but just don't agree with what he says. I think we are making our kids weak buy not being honest about our history. They taught us history in the school I went to in Connecticut. Included the civil war and what it was about. It never divided us. This is underestimating our kids.

Lastly I think he is completely off base implying teaching kids anything means black people are using it as an excuse. He may be book smart. My dad was. He can have all the degrees he wants. You can tell me about people like Obama who made it...blah blah blah but that doesn't speak for the black community at large. I made it just fine. That's not the point.

We still have plenty of people on video getting choked out by the police.

But it is THE POINT. You just said it yourself that you were taught about the Civil War an I assume that included the horrors of slavery. I did as well. The teaching of children that 1 race is somehow racist and another race oppressed is not good for anybody. It is racist at it's core, not true, and divisive. You do realize that during Black History Month kids in MOST schools today are learning about and doing projects about and book reports about the CONTRIBUTIONS and PLIGHT and HISTORY of Black People in America. Nothing wrong with that BUT when you start telling children that the color of their skin dictates their futures then you have crossed a line.

This sounds very snow flakish.... lmao. Not good for anyone. It's not teaching anything but our history. That's all. You and this person are implying that our history somehow is an excuse vs a reason we have our experiences. Truth never hurt a soul. We aren't taught anything about our skin in history. We are doomed to repeat what is not taught...and never forgotten.

Through history pretty much every race, civilization have been both, oppressor and slave. The slave trade existed in Africa long before the Europeans arrived. Were those black oppressors predisposed to racism ? Was it in their DNA ?

Negroes? They haven't used that term since I was in elementary school but my parents wouldn't allow me to use that term nor colored people. We were raised to call Black Americans, Black Americans. That was how my non-racist white parents raised us.

And yes, as a white person ,I greatly admire Dr Carson for his professional achievements in Medicine and as HUD Sec ,helping to create private opportunity zones which resulted in billions of dollars being invested in black communities that needed it. Not sure what is wrong with you.

To fully explain why 7 million Jews were killed by Hitler, you have to know the depth of racism that existed in Germany at the time. To not teach kids about this racism is missing the bigger picture and understanding of why millions of people were exterminated. Do you feel me now?
