I was shocked when someone a few days ago texted me that Lego Boy Blake had been fired. Shocked, because the timing of that firing ran counter to the ways in which The U has done football business for 20 or so years now.
Shock, followed by jubilation, followed by...... Okay, what are our timetables now re: AD and HC...?
I've consistently talked about the importance of "due diligence" in hiring a HC, and that same level of importance with "due dligence" applies with AD.
Football may be king, but the Baseball Program has 4 Titles, and the Basketball Program has a more than respectable history going back to the Dick Hickox and Ricky Berry era. So, we need an AD who will give ALL THREE, The Big 3 in Men's Sports, the requisite boost they they ALL need, because all three have been staggering in average irrelevancy for some time now.
We're all obviously keeping a close on Mario, and how things play out with Oregon rest of the season, and what other programs like USC, Florida, LSU, Texas, may do at HC... Manny is a lame duck HC and WILL be let go at some point - no doubt about it.
What can we expect with the AD timetable? Search firm? Will Frenk be hands-on? BOT overseeing anything? Assistant AD? @gferman @mshodell thoughts...?
