A lot of Cane fans do not know what they are looking because the past is completely blinding them to enjoy the infamous PROCESS that every coach in the world preaches. Unfortunately, the process has become synonymous with one of the best used car salesman who pretended to be a legitimate football coach, yours truly Alford Succubus Golden and Turkey Titts loves violent arms coach No'D.

The difference is that there is actually a legitimate process happening right in front of our eyes and if you have the glasses that you wore the last 15 years then you cannot trust what you are seeing.

Why the growing hype all of a sudden especially from the so called experts?

Well, first and foremost it starts with our QB play. Everyone put more hype and unrealistic expectations on Kaaya who was always an above average QB, but he was extremely suspect against very aggressive defenses that dialed up added pressure simply because he stayed in the pocket waiting for a receiver to become open. What they and all us Cane fans got was a lot of sacks given up and sporadic turnovers.

Insert Malik Rosier, and all of a sudden the reason why the experts wrote us off is now the main reason everyone is jumping on the bandwagon except Cane fans who still have the old goggles on and hasn't cleaned them in 15 years of BS. All of a sudden, we can pick up 3rd down by passing or running with the QB. As good as Rosier is now he too will get much better as the season continues. Expect him to start moving around the pocket better and randomly scrambling for a first down and more on tight man coverage like what we will see against FSU and VTech.

Secondly, our line is going to take the next jumping much like they did last year with 5 games remaining. As a result look for Walton to excel and our other backs to improve.

Lastly, all the freshman playing now will no longer play like freshman regardless of position much like Ahmmon Richards and Joe Jackson, and all three freshman LB last year. Of all the freshman playing now the one I am most excited about is Donaldson, because he is the only one who plays every single snap, and more production from him also means more opportunities for Thomas and Harley.

But let's be honest. The reason for all they hype this year was because of our defense. Our defense didn't come out as sharp as everyone expected against Bethune Cookman, and then came the other hurricane called Irma and took 10 days away from everything football related. In sports training is everything and any athlete who does not train for an extended period of time is at a disadvantage.

There was a lot of rust from our team against a well coached Toledo team that has one of the best QBs we will see this year and our defense looked very ugly. Every play from Toledo was uptempo no huddle hurry up offense to catch our young secondary off balance, and it was working. By halftime our defense was gassed and Toledo had the lead.

Then came halftime adjustments and our offense opened the second half with our version of the uptempo no huddle hurry up offense, and we were unstoppable, but it came with a price. The faster we went the more we scored and the less time our defense had to rest. As a result, our defense started to show fatigue once again and nearly allowed Toledo to come back. Once again our offense went uptempo and put more points on the board which put more pressure on Toledos offense to abandon the run thus allowing our defense to dial in on the QB.

Then came Duke and our defense played so much better against the uptempo no huddle hurry up offense. Once again our defense was in football shape as Duke ran 88 plays and managed only 349 yards which is 4.4 yards per successful play.

What to expect next from our defense is more tweaking to completely shutdown the run, and generate more interceptions. Too often, Young and Redwine are playing the man and not the ball and make plays that keep receivers from catching the ball or making the sure tackle. Sooner rather than later they are going to start playing the ball because they are always in the right place to make the sure tackle and by playing the ball they will take it to the house. Johnson and Delaney by the way did play much better this last game out.

All things considered. This 2017 team really reminds me of the 1983 championship team. We were not good enough to beat an elite team early in the season, but by the end of the season we will be good enough to beat anyone including Bama and Clemson barring any significant injury.
