Fellas, it's been a long 12 years of watching Miami. There's been a fall from grace that many inside the community don't seem to grasp.

I am reading posts how this is Al Golden's last year if he doesn't win a certain amount of games wether that be 9 or 10 wins. I am reading the same kind of posts that we read every year on how players are starting to click and they're finally buying into "the process" and how there is finally player leadership. It's like a broken record.

I read posts how the fans are to blame, the players are to blame, a stadium is to blame, others blame Al Golden and that's it. The thing is Al Golden didn't hire himself. Not only so but last year when coaches were fired for less and bought out for more this administration (the previous President included) supported Al 110%. They went even so far to say that this is actually Al's second year.

The point of football when I was around the program in the late 80s was winning a national championship. The goal was simple, win. And if you didn't win whether you were a player or a coach, you were gone. If the fans were unhappy and voiced their opinion, Coach Johnson or any one of those NC coaches would apologize and make changes. We voice our concerns for losses and we get called noise. And this administration agrees.

Between then and now a lot has changed, but mostly to the infrastructure that makes up UM's administration and BoT. These people are responsible for all of this not Al Golden. Al Golden didn't hire himself and Al Golden going 6-7 last year wasn't enough for dismissal, because he was supported.

Al Golden is a symptom of a decade old systemic problem in Coral Gables. The power structure is responsible for everything having to do with Miami football. They don't have the same priorities or goals anymore. Or do they have the guts to do what it takes to excel at this level of football. Academics first, our new rallying cry. From joining the ACC to doing nothing about the destruction of the OB... crap rolls down hill. Get your umbrellas.

Al Golden may very well win 7 or less games and trust me when I tell you, nothing will be done. This is AL Golden's "second year". So expect the same mediocrity we have been treated to for the last decade. I wish I could say different fellow fans, but I ain't one to bullsht. It's gonna be a long couple of years maybe even 3.
