Imo it has to be an ol. I only say that because it’s one thing to dish out the blow but it’s another thing to take it. There’s a different mentality between offense and defense. There shouldn’t be but there is. I get that your dt’s and ends feel like they have protect every one behind them just like ol have to protect their qb and open up holes for their who ever behind them or around them. It’s just different.
imo, I’m going with kc jones. The guy was small and played big. He wasn’t as strong or as athletic as a lot of the guys he was going up against. He really didn’t have a lot of relief with back ups either. Not going to lie, he did drugs, was kind of a weird dude but when the whistle blew his toughness was like a super power. It’s crazy to think of some of the career nfler’s he put in check on a regular basis that were twice his size, strength and athleticism.
i remember being at a spring practice one time and he was on the side line injured. My dad use to get caneport mag and he was on the front page so I knew all about him. Even had his bumble bee tuna card that they use to give out at the games.
I asked for his autograph on the other side of the that side line foam wall thing that separates the players from the fans and he litteraly lifted me up like I was a beer and goes you want a pic? Crazy! I got to watch the spring game from the sidelines as a 12 year old with the players for like five min till security and coach’s told kc isn’t wasn’t cool me being there. I did get my pic with him though.
welcome to U family. Try not being a canes fan after growing up with those spring games in the ob.
fast forward, I’m 39 and I own a restaurant and one of my buddies/regulars Tony Williams who played for memphis and sacked gino and they only lost by so many points. Told me kc is to this day one of the toughest dudes he’s ever gone up against. Look up tony williams nfl. Guy played for like 12 years and was a bad ass at the highest level.
it ain't about the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog. Our players like nesta need to play bigger than they are on the fourth and they can. It’s happened at miami all over the field at every position.
as a miami fan we need to make some serious noise weather at the game, in your living room, at a sports bar or where ever on the fourth. These guys are about to lay it all on the line. Clearly we all know the odds but if the canes go down, we as fans need to go down fighting with them (emotionally/commitment).
sorry for all the rambling, just thinking out loud and there’s no where else for me to talk about this but here.
