We all win! Those are people who say one thing to your face and then vote the other way behind your back. I assisted USSS with McCain during his election run. The USSS guys loved him but he was an absolute dick to ordinary people. I disagreed with him vehemently on his immigration policy. I’m not sure what I agree with on Mittens but it ain’t much I can assure you that. He and John Kerry are the same person to me.@central17 Its not longer about politics but the politician. If you stand by your ethos, stick to your voting principles, believe in the things you claimed for decades and they make you oppose the person who is not living up to them, you risk ostracization. Its cult of personality over principle.
Talking to a Trump supporter, talking to a Bernie supporter, you find its not about what that person thought and believed before Trump and/or Bernie but what the fealty to those folks require. Personal principles become eschewed. A generational conservative (son of a GOP governor, daughter of a GOP VP) can be labeled RINO, not for their voting record, not for their politics, but for the desire to stand firm in their commitment to the principle of their belief. Guys like Jeff Flake, Cornyn and Rob Portman choose not to run again and we all lose.
Romney is the kind of Republican I've loved. But we live in a time when a man like John McCain can be treated like he's less than an American Hero and the man who claims that POW are somehow not heroic is allowed to wrap himself in the facade of patriotism. Sad times really.
Love it. "Show respect" is asked for and they keep booing. Mittens getting his comeuppance...
