This amateur hour administration has tossed what was once the number one brand in college athletics into the trash. A calling out (twice) on national TV by ESPN did nothing. A push by former Hurricane greats did nothing. The noise did nothing. It is looking more and more like the replacement of the AD is at worst a Trojan horse, and at best a scapegoating of Blake James, either way the new AD will be a stooge for the Diaz mafia. The administration and board of trustees rolled over and has given in. Better to build a base in sports where Miami could actually be competitive, such as baseball and basketball. Perhaps expand the athletics offering to include golf, swimming and men's soccer in order to attract more scholar-athletes as the intellectual elites in charge continue to remake "The U" brand. Actually it may even be time to put that moniker to rest as well. Let powerhouses like Wake Forest take up the mantle of small private academically-oriented universities looking to shake up the big boy college football landscape. It's time to move on.
