I would define any one of the areas below as opening up the conversation to an additional year..........
1. Championships (Coastal/ACC/NC)
2. Great W/L overall and/or consistent 9-10+ win seasons
3. Killer offense or defense where you have a plan to get the other side into the same zip code
4. Top 5-10 recruiting classes
5. Steady progression against 2-4
Manny has not delivered on any of these criteria. 0 titles, subpar W/L with an 8 win max year, better offense but still in the 30's with a completely failing defense with no fix, inconsistent recruiting with 2 of the 4 classes way below acceptable. Not even counting some of the debacles like FIU in year one and UNC in year 2 or having the worst LBs after Year 6 of Manny where he actually owned the LBs and recruiting the first 4 years. Not going in the tank this year is not something that deserves more time, only some credit to the coaches and players for not sucking more after completely failing against expectations. Being a nice guy, or willing to make changes after failure are good traits but not worthy of more time. Like I said in the title, you have to win or spike somewhere.
