Mario building the foundation with this recruiting class

Just like his Mentor Saban and his colleague Kirby
Going to stacking elite talent on elite talent

Kirby said
It's 25 percent evaluation, it's 50 percent recruiting and another 25 percent coaching," Smart said. "But if you don't recruit guys, you don't have a chance. Just go look at the best teams out there. They've got good football players.
The importance of recruiting is well documented, but I don't think I've seen a coach blatantly say that 75% of his job/success happens before the players even step foot on campus.

Bret Bielema last year too ALOT of flack for his statement that was all TRUE

Answering a question about his approach to recruiting as a head coach, Bielema on Monday said: “I just know this: as a head coach, you’re only as good as your roster. I kind of learned that the first time I went to the Kentucky Derby. Nobody was betting on the jockeys, everybody was betting on the horses. To win the derby, you’ve got to have the right horse and I think our players are going to be a reflection of what our program stands for. I stood at the front of the room last year when I took over and said everybody is invited back because of COVID, they gave me the opportunity to do that. As this roster continues to transition, I’ve got to make tough decisions. The players have to make decisions. The roster is going to have to change to get to where we want to be to win a championship. I recognized that probably midway through the spring last year, through the summer. Certain positions haven’t probably played out the way they envisioned them to, in particular the offensive line. I don’t believe we have a player in the two-deep that they’ve recruited here over the last three [recruiting classes] that is really significantly doing anything for us in the playing department and that’s a major concern.”

Mario is not just trying to win games, if he did he would just run gimmicky offense , no Mario is looking to win National Championships

What Do The Recruits Think?

The recruiting class and the future is the bright side of the Cristobal era so far. Interesting comments from the recruits we talked to after the game.
If Cristobal is able to land a top-ten class, it will be the most remarkable efforts in recruiting at the University of Miami.

Future is still very, very bright. The present not so much.

Internal Chatter That A Miami RB Intends To Enter The Transfer Portal At Seasons End

A source has revealed to CanesCounty.com that third-year sophomore running back Jaylan Knighton intends to enter the transfer portal when the 2022 regular season concludes.

The sophomore did not receive a carry to his credit over the course of Miami’s four-overtime away game win against the Virginia Cavaliers 14-12.

Knighton, the Canes star running back during the 2021 season with 11 total touchdowns, has had his fair share of struggles this season. Three fumbles over the course of four games and multiple injuries since the start of the 2022 season.

The third-year sophomore has carried the ball 43 times for 163 rushing yards in a reduced role this season with the emergence of Ole Miss transfer running back Henry Parrish Jr.

Knighton has carried the ball 240 times for 933 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns on a 3.9 yards-per-carry average over the duration of his college career.

Just want to be bowl eligible for the extra practices

I understand that we all wanted amazing things to happen this year but realistically we should have seen these struggles coming. It will take a few years for Mario to get his players in place and it starts with the very different way of recruiting then the previous staff. I love what he has done so far with recruiting and can't wait to see how he finishes. I am hoping that we get bowl eligible and we can use the extra practices for the future.

Class of 2023 Commits Set To Enroll Early At Miami

The early signing day period is fast approaching in December and while Miami continues to retain their 20 commitments in the 2023 class, every Canes fan has the same yearly question at this point of the season “who is coming in the Spring?”

After speaking to quite a few of Miami’s commitments the past few weeks, these commitments so far are the ones that have confirmed with CanesCounty.com to arrive for spring practices at the University of Miami.

Rivals100 5-star CB | Cormani McClain - Lakeland

Rivals100 5-star OL | Francis Mauigoa - IMG Academy

Rivals100 5-star DE | Jayden Wayne - IMG Academy

Rivals100 4-star LB | Malik Bryant - Orlando Jones

Rivals100 4-star WR | Nathaniel “Ray Ray” Joseph Jr. - Miami Edison

Rivals250 4-star TE | Riley Williams - IMG Academy

4-star CB | Robert Stafford - Eau Gallie

4-star TE | Jackson Carver - Loomis Chafee (CT)

3-star OL | Connor Lew - Kennesaw Mountain (GA)

3-star OL | Antonio Tripp Jr. - IMG Academy

3-star OL | Frankie Tinilau - Immaculata La Salle

*That is 12 out of Miami’s 20 commitments in their 2023 recruiting class that have confirmed they will be enrolling early. Miami is up to 20 commitments with Antione Jackson confirming his reclassification from the 2024 class to 2023, that we reported on some time ago.

*This is not a final list as our CanesCounty.com staff is working to get the full and final list of commitments set to enroll early for Miami’s 2023 class. We will have more updates coming to this post, stay tuned!

A Win is a Win

So many issues in this game

Garcia probably is not the answer. The play calling did not help today, but big time QBs make big time plays. He did not do that.

Henry Parrish is a godsend

WR core is getting healthy. That’s a plus whenever TVD is healthy

DL is ELITE

The three 2023 LB commits might be even more important than the OL coming in

Kam Kinchens for MVP still. Please don’t mention the missed tackle. He more than made up fort it with plays throughout the game.
