You know things have gotten totally out of control when a military academy is charged with recruiting violations. I don't understand how that is even possible. All applicants need to be nominated by a member of Congress. It's not like they can just offer money to lure top recruits. They operate off budgets that are aided by the U.S. Government. Their purpose is to develop quality Officers not win football games.

Miami is high on 2023 three-star Oklahoma commit Kaleb Spencer. He visited for the North Carolina game and Miami is pushing for an official visit. Miami has yet to add a safety to the 23 class.

Miami offered 2026 ATH Markel Dabney out of Life Christian Academy. The freshman holds offers from Maryland, Virginia Tech, Duke, Coastal Carolina Ole Miss and Pitt.

Something to note is he is the teammate of Oklahoma commit safety Kaleb Spencer. Miami still has no safety commit in this class and Spencer is someone Miami has rumored to be in contact with.

Dabney is already 6' 210 and Spencer is 6'3" 205. I got a chance to see both players down here the first week of the season when they played Stranahan and both are Miami caliber prospects.

Why did it take this long for Colbie Young to get going? I identified his capabilities in fall camp. His tape doesn't lie. If Miami can get Jacolby George and Xavier Restrepo back. This can be a formidable group going forward. Injuries are part of the game but if Miami can get healthy in time for Florida State and Clemson. I like our chances.

Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson and Wide Receiver Michael Redding were not in uniform for today's pre-game warm-ups.

Also, Henry Parrish is not seen in pre-game warm-ups. Linebacker Waynmon Steed is out as well.

If I had to guess right now I would guess Rueben Bain commits elsewhere but this will come down to the very end. Bain spoke highly of Alabama in a way that makes me feel he's heading to Tuscaloosa. He has a great relationship with Nick Saban and Mario Cristobal but the past success of the Tide I think sends Bain north. Of course many things can change from now until signing day, but Miami will have some convincing to do if they want have the home town hero stay home.

Miami Gulliver Prep four-star wide receiver and LSU commit Jalen Brown had never been to a gameday in Baton Rouge, La., prior to this weekend.

Suffice to say, he walked away impressed.

“I went to a couple of college games over the last two years,” Brown told On3. “That stadium is just, I don’t know what it is, it’s just different. The fans’ just different. Everybody’s cheering the whole entire game.”


“The visit was great,” Brown said. “It’s always fun to go with my family, hang around and go watch the Tigers play in Tiger Stadium. That was my first game at Tiger Stadium. It didn’t turn out as planned but it was still a good game, good environment.”

The current Football Stadium at Tropical Park is old and is in bad shape.
It needs to be replaced. There’s no reason why the County and its Citizens should refuse to let a UM Grad Billionaire tear down the old Stadium and build a State of the Art 50k seat Stadium that would benefit the local (2.8 miles away) University and all of the County Residents.

Why say no to major improvements to the Park?

Why say no to a Stadium that UM would use for 7 games a year.

A new State of the Art Stadium with a Retractable Roof would benefit the County and its Residents far more than it would UM.

-operated by UM for 70 years of Home Games
-built on City of Miami Land

The OB had events, concerts, High School Games, etc that benefited all Dade County Residents.

The same could be done with a Retractable Roof 50k seat Stadium at Tropical Park on Park Land that’s already dedicated to a Stadium.

The U needs Receivers and the top 4 WRs in S/FL are headed to LSU, FSU, Gators and Ohio State.

The U will never be back to a Championship Level until they can once again play in a Championship Level Atmosphere Stadium (like the old OB) that attracts the top rated S/FL recruits.

The U will not be able to keep the needed Top S/FL recruits home until they get a Stadium that can match the atmospheres at LSU, FSU, the Swamp and the OSU Horseshoe.

HRS (not a top 100 College Stadium) is not the answer.

The HRS atmosphere doesn’t attract the (needed) top ranked recruits to win Championships.

The HRS just can’t compete with the Stadium Atmospheres of LSU, the Swamp, FSU, Ohio State, Bama, Georgia, Texas, etc. that are so attractive to the top rated recruits.

The sooner the people in S/FL realize that, the sooner we can build a Stadium that is FIT for the Canes so UM can start winning Championships again.

If the Canes want to be Champions again……….

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami head men’s basketball coach Jim Larrañaga announced Monday the promotion of Bill Courtney to associate head coach.

A 26-year coaching veteran, Courtney recently completed his 12th year on Larrañaga’s staff and his third at Miami, helping lead the Hurricanes to the Elite Eight for the first time ever. He moves into the position vacated by Chris Caputo, who is now the head coach at George Washington.

“I’m incredibly honored to step into this role at Miami. I want to express my sincere thanks to both Jim Larrañaga and Dan Radakovich for their faith and trust in me,” Courtney said. “It is truly a privilege to put on the ‘U’ each and every day. To do so while working for a great man like Coach L is uniquely special. I’m so excited to continue to build this program and look forward to helping us create more memories in the years to come.”

Courtney worked for Larrañaga for nine consecutive years, from 1996-2005, the first at Bowling Green and the latter eight at George Mason. During that time, the duo made five postseason appearances, including two NCAA Tournament berths, and posted five seasons with 19-plus wins.

Following seven years as a Power Six assistant coach at four institutions and six years as a Division I head coach, Courtney reunited with Larrañaga at Miami in 2019.

Courtney has quickly become one of the finest recruiters in the ACC, serving as the lead on the highest-rated commit in each of the last three classes. Eight of Miami’s nine high school signees over those three years have ranked top-150 in the 247Sports Composite. Six were four-star, top-105 prospects in their respective classes, with Courtney leading the recruitment efforts of five of them, including all three top-85 signees.

The past two years, the Alexandria, Va., native has helped Miami sign a top-25 class in the 247Sports Composite rankings.

In addition, Courtney was the primary recruiter for both of the Hurricanes’ transfers last offseason, Jordan Miller and Charlie Moore, each of whom averaged at least 10.0 points and 1.7 steals per game, the latter mark top-four in the ACC. They combined for 42 double-digit scoring performances and logged 68 of a possible 74 starts.

More recently, Courtney served as the primary recruiter this offseason on both of the team’s transfer signees, Nijel Pack and Norchad Omier, who are ranked second and No. 12, respectively, in ESPN’s transfer portal rankings. Pack was a First Team All-Big 12 designee and Big 12 Most Improved Player in 2021-22, while Omier was the Sun Belt Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.

“Throughout his 12 years on my staff, including the last three at Miami, Bill Courtney has proven again and again just how valuable he is. Bill is an excellent recruiter, a tremendous coach and, most importantly, a fantastic leader and mentor of young men,” Larrañaga said. “He is an essential part of Miami basketball and helped bring us to unprecedented heights this year. Dan Radakovich, who has aided our program so much, and I both know just how instrumental Bill is to the success of this team, both in the past and in our assuredly bright future. Bill’s new position represents just that.”

After working as Miami’s scout-team coordinator from 2019-21, Courtney moved into the offensive coordinator role in 2021-22 and led the Hurricanes to one of their finest offensive seasons ever.

Miami finished the year No. 19 in the country in KenPom offensive efficiency at 113.9 points per 100 possessions. Both numbers are the program’s second-highest of the KenPom era (1997-present). Miami also finished seventh nationally in turnover percentage (14.0), No. 25 in 2-point percentage (54.8) and No. 37 in effective field-goal percentage (53.3) according to the website.

In addition, the Hurricanes ranked sixth in turnovers per game (9.5), eighth in turnover margin (+4.41), No. 15 in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.49), No. 29 in total assists (524) and No. 30 in field-goal percentage (47.3). Miami also averaged 75.8 points per game in ACC play, breaking the program record of 74.8 set in 2007-08.

The Hurricanes’ offensive prowess helped the team post a sensational 26-11 (14-6 ACC) record, good for the third-most wins in program history and a top-four finish in the ACC.

Miami logged three wins over teams that ended the year ranked top-15 nationally. That included two victories over top-three teams, as it beat the national runner-up, North Carolina, by 28 and defeated another NCAA semifinalist, Duke, on the road.

After earning the program’s fourth Sweet 16 berth, including the third under Larrañaga, and first Elite Eight bid, the Hurricanes’ historic season ended against the eventual national champion, Kansas.

The OB was louder than LSU’s Stadium with similar atmospheres.

UM was cutting corners when they hired Head Coaches like Coker, Shannon, Golden and Manny.

UM is cutting corners by renting #64 HRS.

Tear down the Old Football Stadium at Tropical Park and build a new Stadium in its place. Build a new Stadium a little bit wider and a little bit taller suited for UM’s Fanbase (50-54k seats) and also build it for Dade County High School Football.

The new Stadium could be used for youth leagues, Camps, Dade County events, etc.

A new Stadium at Tropical Park will benefit all of Dade County.

There’s 3 Highways (826, 876 and Turnpike) surrounding Tropical Park for 50-54 Fans for 6 days a year.

The old OB had ONE Highway 836 for 80k Fans.

There’s plenty of space at Tropical Park for parking / tailgating for 6 days a year.
