2020 is littered with more garbage. Temple, Wagner, and UAB...? Give me a break. One of these schools is enough with a watered down ACC Coastal schedule, and frankly I would never schedule an FCS opponent. What is the point on beating up on these Wangers, Bethunes, Florida A&Ms, etc. of the FCS world...? We learn nothing about beating Savannah State 77-0... Go at least find a piss poor FBS school like Kansas which is at least in a Power-5 Conference and large state school which will travel at a respectable level. We have Michigan State in 2020, who is a B-/B respectable Power-5 program who puts good players in the NFL, but Michigan State should never be our "signature" non-conference opponent. Florida, yes. Michigan State, no...
2021 is real talk. No more pussyfooting around here. Alabama in a kick-off classic to start the 2021 season in Atlanta. That is awesome. Can't wait. Great city, great opponent, national spotlight. That is how you measure up to the big boys, why you come to Miami. I always want to play top programs. I don't concern myself with whether we might get blown out by top teams - that is loser talk. Winning programs, and winners in life, don't have that mentality. We should ALWAYS want to play top competition. LSU has played 4 top-10 teams this year, not even yet to the Conference Championship, or even the Playoffs.
2021, we also get Michigan State at home. That is a solid, #2 out-of-conference team to play at home. Rounding out the non-conference schedule is App State, a VERY good #3 out-of-conference team to play. #25 and 9-1 this year, App State has become a VERY respectable mid-major program with some good athletes, coaches, and NFL prospects. They punch well above their weight.
2021, we also get NC State from the Atlantic which is a nice change, and I think by then we should see a much more improved Florida State on the road.
2020 is almost as bad of a schedule as 2019, and barring significant injuries/suspensions, 10-2 should be a realistic goal for this coaching staff. I said 9-3 regular season this year. There's a realistic chance of finishing at 9-4... We'll see how 2019 plays out the next 3 games. 2020 has MSU, UVA, VT, and Wake on the road. Sorry, but splitting those 4 games 2-2 and going 6-0 at home with FSU under a first year coach, is more than a reasonable target for this program.
2021 in Year 3 for Manny is really what will define Manny succeeding or failing here.
