I know, you probably don't want to hear it. Time and time again Miami fans rave about members of the secondary who don't end up exceeding expectations.
However, this appears different
Since Mario Cristobal's re-arrival at UM, he's only spoken wonders about DJ Ivey.
Just this week, he's called him an excellent teammate, with elite physical traits and the right work ethic to motivate those around him.
I'm not gonna lie, I hear this and get goosebumps. I'm not sure there's a better compliment(s) you can get from a coach before you even play a game for him.
"I can't say enough good things about him. Just look at the physical traits, he's exactly how you want him drawn up. He's long, tall, explosive, athletic, his ability to redirect, his hips, ankle flexibility. You name it, he can do it."
I mean, COME ON. You'd think Cristobal is talking about a first-round pick.
Obviously, Ivey has been inconsistent during his career at UM, but could it have been a coaching problem? Only time will tell.
