Allow me to make a case for staying positive about coach Enos.

Too much negativity about Enos. But I understand why a lot of people have already lost faith in him. The sluggish start against UNC, the inadequate first half against Bethune, and the inability to even break the 20 point park against CMU. The lack of a consistent vertical passing game with Jarren.

However, please consider an alternative perspective.

First, 15 out of 16 touchdowns have come from drives of 9 plays or less. 1/3 of those 16 touchdowns have come from drices of 5 plays or less. So, there seems to be a misunderstanding that this offense requires long, methodical, time-consuming drives. That is not the case. We need better 3rd Down % and better kicking.

Second, Jarren only has 7 touchdowns in 4 games against 3 average to poor defenses, but he has not thrown an interception (ok, there were a few close calls in the Bethune game). Jarren is on pace to throw, for the season, between 20-22 TDs, probably 6-9 INTs, and over 3,000 yards... We wouldn't take that from a freshman QB...? I'd be very happy with that, and doesn't Enos deserve credit for creating an enviornment for Jarren to have early success...? I think that Jarren will become more aggressive throwing deeper as he gets more game experience. He and Enos will continue to grow together with some improved recruiting and cohesiveness on the OL.

Third, I believe Enos is still figuring out this roster. I don't think it is as simplistic as some people say to just run a spread, or shotgun, or the stuff with splits. The OL is not great, we don't have great blocking TEs, I don't see a real power back on this roster, and the WR group is still not elite/polished. First time HC, first time OC, first time frosh QB, frosh LT, frosh RT. Even four games in now, I think that people are still trying to figure each other out, and I don't expect all these new moving parts to be on the same page so fast. I suggest some realistic expectations this year.

Enos was never that proven in my opinion, and I never thought Enos was going to be an offensive savior. But I also see some positive things that I think we build upon for this week agaisnt VT and then UVA. Let's see where we are at the end of the year, and go from there, ja...?

Go Canes.
