Cheer up folks - and let this be an emphatic stake in the heart of any lingering delusions that we were "respected again" under Donald Trump.

People around the world know trump is a life long con man. Only the extreme right were duped into believing his lying bs.

To most this would be blatantly obvious, but we do have a few lingering Trumpers who seem to still believe he made us "more respected" to the world, when in fact it was the polar opposite.

Everyone in my family has served in the military, and when my father is upset saying Biden is turning Americans against Americans that is an arcane statement. Keep following the sheep Raoul and your DNC. Other countries love Biden and this administration because he is a puppet.

Skeepy & Cuntmala are leading the USA from behind..

El,

Since you're clearly one of the most intelligent posters here, please take a look at the below graph which illuminates the point of this thread. As you'll see Democratic Presidents tend to make America a significantly more respected nation in the eyes of the rest of the world.

Not being a jerk is generally a good way to get liked in room full of other people. Biden not being Trump is alone probably enough to get other nations to work with us more.

So you agree that the world respects us more under Dem Presidents ? Excellent.

As an American I honestly don’t give a rip about what these countries think. One of the first things Biden said over there is that he was ending the American first policies Trump had. No wonder they all love Biden, we’ll go back to footing the bill for everything. What kind of clown is offended by putting America first, and prefers bending over for the rest of the world. I answer you, it’s the democrats and the state run democrat media.

Most of the countries in the Pew poll are European, many are in NATO. Are you an isolationist who believes we don't need allies in the world ?

No, I believe in America first policies, instead of politicians and businesses selling us out to make other countries happy while lining their pockets. Which includes democrats and republicans, but let’s not forget the champ Beijing Biden.

In that case are you comfortable with a sitting President who talks tough against China but continues to do personal business with them ?

Are you freaking kidding me? You’re talking about legit business compared to what Joe, Hunter, and his brother and sister did. Trump never put China first, the Biden’s are in Communst China’s bacK pocket. Illegally enriching themselves while screwing over the American people. There’s a reason why the Chinese Communists did everything to get Beijing Biden elected. Do you ever get out of the house, or is it just straight up propaganda with you?

Don't you see a double standard in criticizing China and continuing to profit off the help of the Chinese government ?

P.S. Real men don’t read Vanity Fair. Is there a newspaper on the planet that has had to print more retractions than th N.Y. Times?

No, you can do both legally and ethically, not in Beijing Biden’s wheel house.

Maybe they were butt hurt when Trump asked them to PAY THEIR BILLS so the US taxpayer didn't have to carry their dead beat azzes? Just guessing here.................

I'd say they simply want a reliable ally and partner in the US, as per the post WW2 international order when America led by example and didn't turn tail to run away from its leadership role. European states need our leadership now more than in past decades due to a resurgent Russia (whose leader Donald Trump adores), and likewise Asian states need strong US leadership to balance the rise of China. You don't get there by leading from behind or attempting to extort your allies for protection racket money or similar mafia tactics.

Raoul we had long term DEALS with these counties. Because you didn't serve in the military you might not get it.
We have had 50,000 troops in Germany for decades to protect them from the big bad wolf Russia. We led to the freeing of Poland and Czech Republic from the thumb of communism. In the NATO deals these countries were mandated and agreed to spend a certain % of their GDP on defense and nearly ALL of them hadn't done so for many years. Trump told them to honor their deal. He told Germany NOT to enter into a gas and oil deal with Russia and hey got their little feelings hurt. F that.

I think u have ur facts twisted as always , it wasn’t Trump who pulled the sanctions on the Russia pipeline to Germany was it..
So tell me who’.s being soft on Russia..

And if Germany can buy oil & gas from Russia they can pay their Nato bill…!!!
It has nothing to do with extortion..

HJ, I did serve in the military and have spent 7 years of my life in combat zones. As an Army brat, I also spent 6 years growing up in Germany and am very familiar with our European military commitments.

As per your 2nd part about NATO - the two percent rule was never a mandate, it was a guideline. We are always going to spend more on projects like NATO, because we as a global superpower, benefit from NATO far more than a random, small European nation does. Trump's attempt to get European states to pay more was little more than an intimidation tactic that only served to estrange us from our allies, which in the end only benefits Trump's hero (and America's enemy) Vladimir Putin.

Germany is no random small European country. Thank you for your service.

I didn’t know the European countries paid based on a honor system. Didn’t they pay up when Trump pressured them? Actually I heard they did, but don’t know for sure. It is hard to be strong without firm financial commitments. And yes, thanks for serving!

Trump wanted nations to pay 4% of the their GDP to NATO (for comparison, we currently pay 3.4%). Many European nations already paid over 2% (Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, the UK, the Baltic States etc), while some like France, Germany, and Italy paid just below 2%. So in the end, Trump's publicity stunt didn't really matter much since no one pays 4% and the friction only served to pit allies against one another (which benefits NATO's enemies like Russia).

Some did. Some did minor increases. Most did something.

2% the amount pledged.

Read and learn it was brilliant and good for the US taxpayers.

This merely reinforces what I previously posted. We pay about 22% of NATO, the rest of the nations pay the rest. No one pays 4% as Trump suggested and the dollar figures are a drop in the bucket compared to other parts of where we currently spend money. Our annual spending on five F35s is about what we spend on NATO, so if we wanted to really save money we would build a few less planes.
