That's great news but the bad news is that the U.S. Dept. of Justice quickly filed an appeal and said it believes that the biden administration's decision to lift 42 was legal. The repeal of Title 42 will be catastrophic and I will never vote for Biden again if he runs. This was the last straw for me!ALERT! ALERT!
Breaking now so no link yet.
Federal judge blocks Biden's plan to eliminate Title 42.
Title 42 stays.
Back to regularly scheduled programming.
Good luck with the appeal. Sorry Mike. My response was reflexive. Didn't realize you are on our side now. Sorry again. That's great news but the bad news is that the U.S. Dept. of Justice quickly filed an appeal and said it believes that the biden administration's decision to lift 42 was legal. DHS has already said it could face up to 18,000 migrant encounters along the southern border per day once Title 42 expires. We're going to be overrun! BTW. I've always been on your side on this issue. One of the few things I liked about Trump was his tougher stance on immigration.Good luck with the appeal. Sorry Mike. My response was reflexive. Didn't realize you are on our side now. Sorry again.
Mike, did I read this correctly?!That's great news but the bad news is that the U.S. Dept. of Justice quickly filed an appeal and said it believes that the biden administration's decision to lift 42 was legal. I live 150 miles from the Mexican Border and the poverty rate is second highest among large U.S, cities due to the number of illegal aliens. Illegal immigration costs the stage $4.5 billion to $6 billion a year. Imagine what would happen here if there was no border control.Mike, did I read this correctly?!
I'm starting to feel light headed.
I feel like I'm in some Twilight Zone episode. Glad to see you judging Joe by his actions. Where is a true leader when this country so desperately needs one? I don't see much hope in looking at the candidates for 2024.That's great news but the bad news is that the U.S. Dept. of Justice quickly filed an appeal and said it believes that the biden administration's decision to lift 42 was legal. Do you feel appropriate federal attention is currently being given to prevent illegal border crossings.I live 150 miles from the Mexican Border and the poverty rate is second highest among large U.S, cities due to the number of illegal aliens. Obviously Not!Do you feel appropriate federal attention is currently being given to prevent illegal border crossings.
The Biden administration has developed a six-part plan to prepare for border crossings to increase from their current record levels. roughly 7,000 to 8,000 migrants per day-to as many as 18,000.Why do you suppose this is?

This is a bizarro thread.Whats most obvious are our immigration laws are racist. Looking back at late February/early March 2022 when Russia tried to impose its will on Ukraine. At our southern border we saw numbers of Russians and Ukrainians gaining entry into our country. How about those Hispanics that had been waiting for a year or more than a year to gain access into the US? We know for a fact there are many from Central America, South America and Mexico who fled their cities to avoid the wrath of cartels, blood thirsty gangs who pillage, plunder and rape? Those poor souls dont have the means to fight back. Russians and Ukrainians were given preferential treatment because not only do they possess technical skills that those from south of the border lack, its because they are White.
Whenever immigration laws are discussed, what almost always pops up from the law and order crowd is : "I want people to follow the law, I support the law, I want everybody to be in line, I want them to do it the right way, I dont why you have to call me names, all Im saying is I want people to follow our laws, "etc., another thing that is always asked is "why is wanting immigrants to follow our laws racist? It isnt, not necessarily unless our laws are racist, then it might be.This is a bizarro thread.
OK Hawaiian, re: America has a history of racial discrimination going back to 1880
So were things from 1776 to 1880 cool?

Here is the timeline on US Immigration laws. Maybe there is a pattern.
Prior to 1776 people in this context are not immigrants. They are colonizers, they are specifically coming to replace the system that exists. None of the those provisions would play into this.
From the point where the constitution was signed about 1778 to about 1880, there was no federal immigration law, none that could prohibit anyone from entering the country. The reason there were no laws on immigration is because the founders were busy trying to determine whether or not the govt had the power to regulate immigration law. Some of them didn't think the govt did because of the 10th amendment. The constitution says immigration is the decision of the states. That is what it really says. Thats how things ran until the late 1800s.
When a California immigration official was mean to a Chinese person. The case wound up in supreme court and the Federal govt took the power to regulate immigration. The 1st act to prohibit who could come to this country
was the Chinese Exclusion Act. It is exactly what it sounds like. It is what it is.
The next big change was in 1917 with the Immigration Act of 1917, which created the Asiatic Bar Zone. So basically its not just Chinese people, but includes all people from Asia, unless they are coming from countries we own. That is actually what is in it. So it targeted all people from Asian countries and included sex workers, Polygamists, people with contagious diseases, "idiots", the mentally defective which was widely interpreted as Homosexuals and anarchists.
Then in 1924 which barred people who couldn't be naturalized under the Naturalization Act of 1790, which again applied to people from Asia. By this time everyone in this country had worked their way thru the court system and had the right to vote, at least on paper. But this one introduced a concept of numerical caps. They limited the number of people coming from various countries. Obviously because its the US, the caps from Western and Northern Europe were excessively high but not so much for Eastern and Southern Europe.
Then in 1965 the Immigration And Nationality Act allowed the caps to be extended to all. Prior to this point there was no cap. No cap on people from South of the Border. People could come and go quite freely. Immigration was quite easy up until that point.
So at the height of the Civil Rights Movement, is when we finally for the 1st time decided to limit the number of people from south of the border. Its almost as though the govt said "hey, if we let this many in we have to treat them like regular people." Thats the 1st time it was limited. There was also some geopolitical concerns as far as destabilization of Central America which the US was extremely busy doing. But that is when this started. When did the concept of illegal immigration become a problem, when did that begin? The same time because prior to that there wasnt any. These caps are what created illegal immigration. The law is bad and its always been bad. This why we had to have amnesty in the 1980s. The law is bad and its racist. All of our laws on immigration are racist in origin. When we hear "I want my laws enforced" people will assume you are racist. Because it IS racist. Its really that simple. Any real immigration reform is dependent on eliminating these caps in the way they are structured. That is what has to be done. All racist elements must be removed. All origins on our immigration laws were enacted because of racism
The bottle of dressing with Biden's namesake is what the GOP wants America's perception to be. It isnt his fault his predecessor dropped the ball on those trying to cross our southern border. Trump purposely accommodated owners of private prisons and defense contractors becauase they contributed heavily to his presidential campaign. So in return Trump allowed these companies to build holding facilities for migrants. There are reports of lack of running water, unsanitary conditions, lack of proper shelters from inclimate weather, etc., in addition, there was one holding unit that housed teenaged boys and girls, a bad combination. All migrants were given mylar blankets. A number of migrants that arrived were suffering Flu like symptoms. Yet no effort was made to separate these individuals. There were reports of children suffering dehydration while in Border Patrol custody. In the health profession analysis anyone suffering dehydration needs fluids within 90 minutes. A lot can happen in 90 minutes. A lot of fluids can be pumped into someone in 90 minutes. In a emergency situation 90 minutes can be the difference between life and death. There are volunteers near the border dropping off containers of water along the route for migrants. But the inhumane practices committed by BP agents who empty out the water is horrifying. DJT laid the ground work for this atrocity. I know some folks will say "its to deter the bad elements". Well geniuses, the healthy folks you are worried about, they can make it 3 days without water. So its safe to say these BP emptying out containers are responsible for killing people. Children, the elderly, expectant women, their bones are out in the desert. Proud of yourselves????
It costs WAY more then that friend. Direct and indirect costs are too high to count. Welcome to our side of the fence at least on this topic.I live 150 miles from the Mexican Border and the poverty rate is second highest among large U.S, cities due to the number of illegal aliens.
