A liitle snipet about Miami and Manny

It's hard to sift through the stench of the way Miami ended its season, with utterly embarrassing losses to Florida International and Louisiana Tech sandwiched around a relatively respectable double-digit defeat at Duke.

If there were a few optimists out there hoping Manny Diaz could turn things around in Year 2, the early departure of four important players to the NFL -- corner

Trajan Bandy
, running back
DeeJay Dallas
, receiver
Jeff Thomas
and end
Jonathan Garvin
-- threw cold water on that notion. A trip to Michigan State in Week 4 will show everyone how far Miami has come, or not come.

Diaz spent last offseason taking thinly-veiled shots at Clemson and the way the Tigers conduct their business. Safe to say he'll be a lot quieter after the humbling experience of 2019.

There are a few other chances for the ACC to repair its image early in the season. Virginia Tech plays host to Penn State. N.C. State gets Mississippi State at Carter-Finley Stadium. Boston College visits Kansas and plays host to Purdue.

Call us pessimistic, but things could get worse for the ACC before they get better.

Largely because Clemson won't be around to make things look better.
