CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami sophomore quarterback Brad Kaaya was one of just 32 players named to the 2015 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Performer of the Year Trophy Watch List Monday.

The preseason recognition marks the sixth for Kaaya, who earned a spot on the Phil Steele and Athlon Sports preseason all-conference teams and who was also named to the 2015 watch lists for the Maxwell Award, Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award and Manning Award.

During his rookie campaign, Kaaya was the only true freshman quarterback in the country to throw for over 3,000 yards, 26-or-more touchdowns and 12-or-fewer interceptions.

In addition, Kaaya rewrote the Hurricanes’ freshman record book as he set the single season freshman standard for passing yards and touchdowns.

The California native finished the year with 3,198 passing yards and 26 touchdown passes, tying him with Heisman Trophy-winning signal-caller Vinny Testaverde for third all-time in Miami football history.

The 2015 National Performer of the Year Trophy is a 22-inch K-9 optic crystal trophy with an 8-inch crystal football on top. All FBS players are eligible for the award.

The award winner will be announced January 13, 2016.
