....now being taught at West Point.

Great to see the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff showing some leadership on this.

Like it or not, in a war any war one of the first thing that happens is you dehumanize the enemy. Hard to kill people you don’t know but think of in a kind manner. That’s one of the reasons they say the first casualty of war is the truth.

We need to get some smart people in leadership. This critical race theory is b.s. It will flush down the toilet along with the turd I left today. No smart Black or White people will submit their family members to this racist dialogue.
Critical race theory is the study of what government and laws impact on race in this country. For you to call this b.s. shows why it needs to be examined because from the very beginning of our nation the constitution had the 3/5 compromise!

You can’t say something is b.s. when it’s rooted in our founding document.

As Honey IV said, " You don't teach hate to kids" !

Spot on. Right wingers are being spoon-feed a narrative that it teaches hate, when in fact it simply recognizes that hate was widely practiced for decades and centuries past.

We are very fortunate to have folks like Secretary Austin, Gen Milley - and Gen. Charles Brown, the U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff, speaking out about race and being on the right side of history.

If you believe that narrative, why bring up hate again, this time to children? What purpose does it solve?

As noted above, its simply a recognition that deep institutional racism existed in the past and that groups affected then, continue to be affected in the present. If you think that's "hate" then perhaps its time for a bit of moral self-reflection.

I have no problem understanding what I think is a hateful curriculum which will die at school board meetings even in areas populated that are racially mixed.

Except reality is quite the opposite. It is not only gaining broader credibility, but as shown above, is also being fully incorporated into military training. A few years from now, it will be the norm everywhere and those who rejected it will appear like dinosaurs in the age of mammals - similar to those who rejected gays in the military 25 years ago.

No comparison to gays in the military. CRT will likely get watered down in the military in that forces within the military have indicated that it undermines the goals of the military. It is being discussed now and being rejected.
Children need to be children and not be burdened with hateful rhetoric. It's destructive and as such will likely die at many school board meetings.

The founding document was updated, or didn’t you know? Provide examples of systemic racism, today, we will wait…

Black man can’t be a judge.. oops
Black man can’t be President…. Oops
Black man can’t be in Congress… oops
Black man can’t be a world class neurosurgeon… oops
Black man can’t be the highest paid athlete in his sport… oops
Black man can’t go to college… oops
Black man can’t get the same resources for success as his white counterpart… oops

Now let the virtue signaling flow…

Wrong, you aren’t looking at the actual curriculum and presentation down at the grade school level. It teaches that today, whites are the bad oppressors with white rage and people of color are victims of their oppression, not 50 years ago, but today! You gotta wake up and see it for yourself. Don’t be a brainwashed sheep.

Lmao. Whole thing is a con job designed to force people into hating each other and making politicians more powerful than they already are. Thank you to BDR DeSantis for banning that garbage from being taught in our public education systems

You are the biggest RACIST on this board. Just because we have broken down some barriers doesnt mean it doesnt still exist. For all of the above to happen their were a lot a death and blood shed coming from Racist pieces of $hit like you. The children need to know the HISTORY of this country. BLM

Well said.

It should come of little surprise that people have benefited from historical privilege are the least likely to admit it and the most likely to fight to preserve the status quo.

None of the above is true. Its being accepted more and more. A few years ago it wasn't in the curriculum, now it is. Any objective observer can see that it is being mainstreamed and this debate we're having today will be forgotten in a few years.

I disagree as many others do. Watch the newsclip with the General who testified that the military is getting too "woke"? It's being watered down eventually to disappear.

The only General who matters is the one currently leading the military. If any active duty General complains about "wokeness" they would be ushered out door pretty quickly.

He's active and gave a report to politicians. It was all over the media yesterday.

It was General Milley. Very high ranking. I think he is head of the Joint Chiefs.

This entire thread is about Gen. Milley (see the video in the OP). He spoke yesterday in favor of the West Point curriculum that teaches the CRT course and criticized politicians (like Matt Gaetz and others) who were complaining about wokeness.

America is racist, that's what CRT teaches. It is a false narrative to promote hate.

It has been more than 150 years since the first Blacks were elected to the US Senate and House of Representatives. Today there are 11 Black Senators and 55 members of the House of Representatives. If you have an issue with laws blame your representatives.

America is the land of opportunity, unrivaled by anywhere else on earth. There are 12 Black Billionaires, seven of those are US citizens. The other 5 are all citizens of African countries.

Life is what you make of it.

Typical illiterate ignorant post. Learn to read better. Where did I say racism doesn’t exist? Of course some folks like cd, yourself, and Bigot Biden are still racist. This topic is systemic racism…. Big difference.

I challenge you to provide examples of racist comments? You won’t find any. I simply use facts. Because you don’t like them and rather than posting counterpoints, you scream and cry racism. Typical snowflake liberal.

Tokenism at its finest. 😂

Here are a few charts to illustrate the results of intergenerational systemic racism

Black workers earn about 62c on the dollar compared to what white workers make. Do you think its because blacks are lazy, or let me guess - because they've been led astray by the Democratic party ?

Likewise, black per capita income is significantly lower than whites.

5edeac16f0f41916f169b018

Median black income is significantly lower than median white income ? Must just be a coincidence!

Aggregate wealth disparities between black and white households.

There are dozens of other charts that illustrate an overwhelming slam dunk of a case of systemic racism. All you have to do is look at the mountain of data available.

So you don’t teach kids about the Holocaust? Or Japanese interment camps? Or about segregated schools?

How can you teach kids about history and avoid all the bad things in it? How do we explain the civil war? world war 1 or 2?

“In 1492, Christopher Columbus came to America, there are now the United States of America. The end!”

you guys are unbelievable

How about education? Like finishing HS, which is completely paid for; 23% of AA don’t have a HS education. That group has no HS degree, no skill set and little chance of advancing beyond minimum wage. That’s self inflicted, and that’s the primary driver of the discrepancy in income and wealth.
It‘s about taking responsibility for one’s self, if your not even willing to finish HS you have no one to blame except the guy in the mirror.

I agree, personal responsibility is part of the equation. As is starting off on a level playing field, which as the charts above illustrate, isn't the case for blacks and whites.

Concepts like the title of this thread merely seek to identify historical reasons why these imbalances continue to exist.

We can all look back on American history and unless you were white Protestant there was a period in which you were discriminated against.

Using your charts above one could make the same arguments about wealth and median incomes for whites and Asians. The median household income for Asians in 2019 was 98k, and for whites 76k. Does that mean whites were discriminated against-? No, only 6% of Asians don’t have a HS degree, and as a group they have nearly double the percentage of bachelors degrees as the population as a whole. They made their opportunities. They as a group have a strong belief in the family unit, and recognize the benefit of education.

Yes, you could make the same arguments for disparities with Asians, but there, they are mostly 1st or 2nd generation Americans who come from completely different backgrounds, are often well educated, and don't start off in a deficit.

WHAT, 80 years ago many of their families were in internment camps! Who built the railroads west? You my friend have a selective view of history that fits your narrative.
