I wonder why that is...? Dude was a career MAC/directional school coach his entire career until Arkansas in 2015. Saban didn't even put up a fight letting him leave- brought in 40 year old Major Applewhite as an offensive analyst/offensive input guy.
Lincoln Riley is 36.
Leach was 39 when he went to Texas Tech and began an offensive revolution.
Applewhite is 41 and hired at Bama as an offensive analyst who has input on gameplans.
Scott Frost was 39 when he led UCF to a 13-0 record and win over Auburn in the Bowl Game.
Chip Kelly, IN HIS PRIME, was 44 at Oregon when he went on his offensive tear in the Pac-12.
Sonny Dykes was 44 when he took over SMU,now 5-0 #24 averaging 44.8 PPG running spread/progressive offense.
Dabo was 39 when he took over OC/HC at Clemson.
Gary Patterson was 41 when he took over TCU and revolutionized their offense to a more spread offense 10 wins a season over a 10 year stretch.
Matt Campbell, one of the best offensive minds in college football, is 39 years old.
Urban Meyer, in his late 30's and 40's, revolutionized offense in college football.
James Coley, 45. Say what you want, at the least the guy can recruit well.
You can find another 10 examples.
Harbaugh, 55 years old... Dinosaur offense. Richt, 59 years old... Dinosaur offense... Les Miles... Dinosaur offense, run out of LSU... Saban is an outlier, and Wisconsin is an outlier.
Evolve or be mediocre.
Don't buy any of this Enos B.S. today about being adamant about having the right offensive scheme... That's Turkey Tits 2.0 talk... Believe what your eyes tell you. You've seen the games. You've seen the slow developing 5-7 second plays with 12/22 personnel packages asking freshmen tackles and non-elite OL to hold their blocks for a half hour instead of running the quick hitting stuff with more shotgun and getting guys in open space. And you've seen the 130th ranked, DEAD LAST, 3rd Down Conversion %.
I want my OC to come to the mike and tell the Hurricane faithful that they are going to try some different things and re-work the formula for success, after posting a disgraceful 17 on the board against a barely FBS school in CMU... Coaching!
