Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema who serves on the rule committee drop the bomb on espn radio tonight.
Dont know if anyone heard it...
He said you can look for a change here soon (at the least heavy talks) in regards to NCAA and hurry up offenses and its the NFL and TV people applying the pressure.
he was asked why would the NFL and TV want Hurry offense out the equation...
For the NFL they are worried about how it lowers the IQ of offensive players. Players not knowing how to call plays in the huddle and read defenses. This have become a huge problem for the NFL.
quote: "been around for a while and when the NFL wants something its normally implemented within the next 3 years.
as far as tv: Bret says he sits in a lot of the meetings and to hear the tv people talk and shines light on a different perspective which is the uniformity of football in how it relates to time. They (tv) absolutly hate that some games are 1:45 min long and other 3 hours long. They would like to see more uniformity across the board for the sake of TV slots and advertisement.
He was asked should tv have such an influence on the game of football:
he said: Tv is money. and their money allow coaches and well as universities to get paid.
thought it was interesting...So guys in the near future look for offenses to have limitations on how fast they can run a play.
