To be honest I am actually more impressed with his appointment as the Russian ambassador. I will give him that. An excellent choice.Jon Huntsman is as solid as they come.
Jon Huntsman should actually be Secretary of State...but I won't push it...lol. This is a huge step for Trump. Someone talked some sense into him.
Huntsman was the Governor here in Utah and was generally well liked. He was able to reach across the aisle in a state where that doesn't happen very often. What I liked about him was his love for motocross. There were a few times when I'd be at the local track for practice when him, his son, and his security detail would show up in their black SUV's. To my knowledge it was the only time that I've ridden a track with a sitting Governor.
Need more like him because he doesn't get all wrapped up in partisan nonsense. I don't care if he is a republican. He took a lot of bullets from his party to work as ambassador to china for Obama. He ran for president and they turned their back on him for that. He is a very sharp guy that always puts his country first. Hell, I would have voted for him if he ran against Hillary.
A couple of things got him in trouble with his party out here. He tried to loosen the liquor laws and he decided to run against Mitt Romney, whom many here regarded as the chosen one. While Governor though he did seem very fair with his decisions.
Yeah, you would know more about the local things happening. I actually didn't hate Romney although I would rather have Huntsman. Both candidates weren't strong this election cycle so it came to which one would do the least amount of damage for the most people for me. That is the only reason I went with Hillary. She wasn't my ideal candidate as a democrat either. In fact if she would have run against Romney that would have been a bit more interesting. Not a given I would go with her....but definitely would have just voted republican if Huntsman ran against her.
The thing about Romney is I think he can work across the isle. I look at that quite a bit. He has his strenths and weakness's but at least he seems presidential....lol. He is certainly qualified in other words. Someone people can rally around if the crap hits the fan.
I personally didn't care for Romney as he seemed a bit out of touch with the common man. In his circle though he is probably a good guy. My wife has had some dealings with his son Josh through her job running a mortgage company out here. He was a partner in a sister company to her company with a real good friend of ours that died last year. She seems to like Josh well enough and he's called her a few times for advice since the partner died as the partner was the one with knowledge of the business and had always told Josh that my wife was the person to call for trusted advice when it comes to the mortgage business.
