Hello, Caniacs...

I wrote this Thursday night and just remembered to post it at the start of today's game because I knew I'd be at work and could not cover the game for U. I hope someone can pinch-hit for me. If I get home in time I will jump in late.

I usually do a pre-game stats comparison post but opted to include that info here. Take a look at the WF stats below and then say a prayer. Check out out the Deacs batting stats, not to mention, the guy who will start on the mound for them today. That would be one Rhett Lowder, the ACC Pitcher of the Year, and he's only a sophomore. Plus they have 4 batters in the ACC's Top 25 batting average list.

Don’t kid yourself, the Deacs will be a tough out.

The Deacons certainly have motivation to win, probably one reason why they held their ace pitcher until today. They are fighting to stayin the field of 64. D1Baseball.con has them projected to be the No. 2 seed in Knoxville hosted by No. 1 Tennessee and a W today vs. a Top 10
team would enhance their position.

We're fighting for something too, a Top 8 seed to host a regional and super regional. As U will see below, D1Baseball.com has us at No. 5 in their latest projections. I find that very surprising considering we are 3-5 since the FSU series and I fear a loss to Wake could severely jeopardize that Top 8 rating come Monday when the Field of 64 is announced.

We can't limp round 3rd and stumble for home with a 3-6 record and expect to be rewarded.

RECORDS (not updated in post-season)
Wake Forest 39-17-1, 15-14-1/ACC 3rd place Atlantic, .517 winning %/ACC and .693 overall
Miami: 39-17, 20-10/ACC 2nd place Coastal, .667 winning %, .696% overall

WAKE FOREST BATTING
Against NCST, it was Tommy White. For Wake, it's another Tommy, Tommy Hawke. He's batting .376, 5th best in the ACC. They also have Pierce Bennet hitting .370, 7th best in the league. In 16th place is Nick Kurtz batting .358 and Brendan Tinsman with a .348 avg. good for No. 22. That's 4 batters in the ACC's top 25. I don't think any other school has more than 3.

UM BATTING
CJ Kayfus leads the team in batting at .362, No. 12 in the ACC (down 20 points and a half-dozen spots since before the FSU series.
