It's always one or the other. And if you play the odds, and look not just at our program but at the entire landscape of college football, the likelihood is that Manny won't get it done here. It's a hard job made harder by some insane expectations, and frankly, he might not have what it takes to get it done. But we don't KNOW that right now. Some of you might trick yourself into thinking that you do, but you don't. Man up and admit that.

Take this as spin if you'd like, but at this point, I don't care. I'm OK with the start to this season IFF it makes clear to everyone on our staff, on our team, everyone who plays a small part to contributing to our finished product on the field - that right now, WE SUCK.

Question is - what does Manny do from here. I get that many of you say Fire Him. But that's just silly and you know that.

I think Manny understands the problem of our entire culture and environment, and that he himself is committed to fixing it. But are we comfortable with the idea that he has the solutions? That's where his legacy here, if any, will be decided.

If we started off 4-0, with a lot of hype, it would cover up these warts. Sure, it'd make this moment so much more enjoyable, but like two years ago, it likely would have been a mirage. And the tease of being close to being back doesn't convince the drivers of our ship to pursue the changes we desperately need. Richt didn't do that because he might have not seen it or felt it since his first two seasons here were pretty damn good relative to what we've seen the last 17 years.

Lastly, I'll just say this - it's EASIER to say you always knew that Manny wouldn't succeed here. Good for you to all of those who "knew" that. What's harder though is to have the guts to stick it out with this team and see where this ride takes you. I'm doing to hard thing. There's some parable here about building character from following the hard path. Don't look to me to provide that crap, but I know some of you find that appealing. We have a serious problem with the entire program. Manny is not the root cause of it, and getting rid of him might not solve the problem as much as you all would like. The problem is MUCH deeper.
