The rebuilding of the Miami Hurricanes the past 5 years has been anything but smooth. The crook Shapiro scandal being hidden from Al Golden was dishonest at best by the administration. The hell that he and the coaching staff and administration have gone through with NCAA investigations, negative recruiting, and eventual penalties including loss of scholarships has taken great courage to endure! Steadily he has rebuilt and strengthened relationships at the high school and junior college level locally and nationwide. The incredible renovation of all the facilities including new buildings, fields, programs, support and the introduction of many training camps and special U days has been amazing to behold. It is very apparent to me that the quality of personnel has improved and is getting better. 2016 looks outstanding and even better than now. Constant improvement in outreach, upgrades in the staff, better and more extensive recruiting efforts are paying off. That is plain to see. So, I for one, as a 60+ year supporter of UM am optimistic about this season and even more so for our future! And is there a more beautiful place than Coral Gables? I don't know of one. A great educational institution with small classes and individualized attention with unique nationally recognized departments of academic specialties is a great draw to all including our athletes who realize that after football there is life and they need to be prepared. We have a lot to be thankful for and I don't doubt that we will be rewarded on the football field as well. How many other schools have won 5 national championships? Very few.
