There's more than a hint of truth in this. Trump is seen as a sort of preserver of white identify among the likes of the Alt-Right and Neo-fascists. The only difference between them and Conservatives is that the former are open about admitting their kinship with him while Conservatives continue to cloak their appreciation for white identity themes by playing up the usual tropes of lower taxes/ less government etc.
