Was taking a look at this guy's Bio at lunchtime.
They guy comes to Oregon and with the Nike money and Mariotta takes what Mike Belotti built and takes it to a whole new level going 10-3, 12-1, 12-1, and 12-1... 3 top-10 finishes and some big bowl victories and a National Championship appearance (loss to Newton's Auburn). That open offense was off the charts explosive.
He's the hottest name in sports at the end of 2012 and goes to a respectable Eagles team and goes 10-6, 10-6, and 6-9. Pretty good for a college guy out of Oregon.
Then after that it's all downhill... The guy goes full train wreck in San Francisco, 2-14. Gone in 2016. Takes 2017 off from coaching all together and seems to be one of the hottest names back again in college football being linked to about a dozen teams including the Gators and there was even talk here about him before we hired CMR...
Goes to UCLA, so I'm thinking okay, west coast, warm weather, California recruiting. He went 3-9 last year, and it looked REAL ugly... I mean that was a team who the year before had Josh Rosen in 2017 who was drafted #10 overall... 3-9 in 2018... Now, WINLESS 0-3 in 2019... They lose a brutal game to an average Cincinnati team, and then lose to San Diego State at home, only to follow that up with an absolute beatdown at the hands of Lincoln Riley and Oklahoma...
What the hell happened to this supposed mastermind offensive guru...? Can't recruit...? Issues with people...? The game is as open, offensive, and innovative as it has ever been, and this guy is on pace to be fired at this third straight gig...
