The New AD will hire the new coach. We don't know who that will be. The fact that someone told Manny he is likely retained is irrelevant as that person isn't the new AD who apparently isn't hired yet. You dont announce a search for a new AD and expect he is hired within 24 hours. Whoever is hired as AD has to know if he keeps Manny most of the fans will hate him. Unless UM lied about a search and knows who the AD is and what he will do(which is unlikely), Gary's article means nothing.
No competent AD would keep an incompetent coach for a year presuming he will get the coach he really wanted the following year. Too many things could happen .Its just not feasible.
