Yes Utah reinstated the firing squad back in 2015. They were also the last state to execute someone this way. Ronnie Lee Gardner chose that as his method to be executed in 2010. Even though Utah had stopped death by firing squad in 2004, he had been convicted before that date so he was able to choose that method. At the time it was said that he was trying to show up the state by doing so. As for the shooters, one of the gun has a blank, so supposedly no one really knows whether or not they had a live round in their gun.Utah just legalized execution by firing squad and was hiring shooters as a government employee.
