Two of the seven geniuses at CBS Sports named the Canes as most overrated team in the ACC. One had them as most underrated. With expectations as low as they are - how the hell can we be considered overrated? I'm in the investment field and when sentiment is as negative as it is now - usually a good buying opportunity.
Dennis Dodd - Most underrated team: Miami. Not that the Canes have done much to enhance their rep, but if all the latent talent comes together Miami is capable of winning the Coastal.
Jerry Palm - Most overrated team: Miami. The U hasn't played for the ACC title since joining the league, and with only six returning starters and a difficult schedule ahead, that's not likely to change this year. In fact, the Canes may not even get to a bowl.
Chip Patterson - Most overrated team: Miami. Every year at the ACC Football Kickoff, I sit with other members of the media and we try to talk ourselves into this being the year the Hurricanes will finally win the Coastal. Miami is talented enough to do it most years, but either injuries or a inexplicable collapse late in the season seem to derail what could have been a promising year. I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but I've learned my lesson with Miami.
