Think of how different the narrative would be right now if Jeff Thomas doesn't muff that punt and NC doesn't convert that 4th and 17. We would be ranked #12-#15 and Manny would have been applauded for turning it all around.
Yes, we played really sloppily and were not ready against Florida, and yes, we especially stunk up the 1st quarter at NC. We are nowhere near being a real top 25 team and all the weaknesses that people have called out are true. BUT these games turn on a few plays - we were the same team when we won 10 in a row in 2017 and climbed to #2, just got the bounces to go our way that year.
(And yes, great teams dominate games and don't put themselves in this position regularly, but even the 2001 team had 2 games that they could/ should have lost (oh, how I miss a good Ed Reed))
