At what age or grade do you think is appropriate? I dont have kids but I feel grades K-3rd grade are part of a childs formative years

You think K-3 should be learning about if they should chop of their weiners or convert from a female? And learning about sex organs. No offense Hawaiin, but thats the D party now. (10% anyway but MSM makes it look larger)
Why can't they just be the children they are? Why would any sex education be appropriate when they have zero interest in it as they are 5 to 8 years from puberty?
I am gonna stay consistent on this. I think the state makes the decision with the people they elect. It's a local issue. Frankly, teaching this kind of thing to my kids would be moot. I would educate my own kids first of all. I have to laugh at people that pretend these kids will be watching porn or something. STop you are being silly. It's just really very very PG related teaching going on. These kids see more serious stuff at their friends home on the weekends. Jeez!
I dont believe kids at those ages should be subjected to ostracism. When the GOP single out LGBT and ban kids from learning about these issues its on the same level as discrimination. When I was in the 3rd grade and as my classmates and myself neared the end of the school year the boys were sent to one classroom and the girls to another. It was about sexual orientation, Homosexuality. It taught us what to expect as we reached our adolescent & HS years. The lecture implied "sometimes boys go with boys and girls with girls."
Nothing wrong when a person is LGBT. They didnt have a choice. its a X or Y chromosome thing. Cant be helped.
IMO, kids don't need to be taught about alternative sexuality at least until they enter Junior High School. And even then, they shouldn't normalize it. Tell them what it is, what the letters stand for, tell them not to discriminate against those in that community, then keep it moving.
Male, female relationships should still be what's taught to our kids. I have 3 of them, and I'd prefer they be taught that reproduction occurs between a man and a woman because that's how we as humans are designed and created, and that's what's normal. But still, no one should be discriminated against or treated badly regardless of their sexual orientation.
Agree 100%. I'm not even sure the Public Schools are a place to discuss or teach sexuality at any age. But I'm old fashioned and in my 60's, so it might be a generational viewpoint.
You have every right to feel that way. I respect that. I question the florida law. It fosters segregation, discrimination. Its parallel to what colonization is. Erasing or ignoring history is one of the main tools of colonization. This helps the colonizers to idealize their own history and support the idea that their values are better and greater than those who they colonized. Thats why they dont teach us our history in schools.
Not sure where this "parents-should-control-what-is-taught-in-schools-because-they -are-our-kids" originated, but parents do have the optionto choose to send their kids to a hand-selected private school at their own expense if this is what they desire.
The purpose of a public education in a public school is not to teach kids only what parents want them to be taught. It is to teach them what society needs for them to know. The client of the public school is not the parent, but the entire community.
The 'Client"? The Client IS the Public School as they exist on taxpayer dollars. Their Job is to educate children on Reading, Writing, History, Arithmetic, PE, etc. And when you say "teach them what society needs for them to know", Society exists of differing opinions just like this Board. It doesnt look good for those on the right. Just today Senate member Mike Lee (R) Utah was involved in a fraudulent scheme to overturn the 2020 elections. Text messages show Lee communicated with Mark Meadows, who at the time was Trump's chief of staff. Speaking of Meadows, He has been found to have deliberately voted in the wrong district. He used an address of a trailer home located in Scaly Mountain NC. He used the address on a recent registration form. Interestingly enough, the former owner had never met Meadows. Scaly Mountain sits near the Georgia state line. The same guy who perpetuated claims the 2020 elections were stolen. Meadows, incidently communicated by text messages with Ginny Thomas, wife of SCOTUS Clarence Thomas a few days before the infamous day of Jan 06, 2020. Judge Thomas so far has yet to recuse himself from the eventful day of Jan 06. Its obvious Clarence Thomas isnt a judge, he is a politician. A number of republican Senators at Judge Jackson's confirmation didnt help matgters for the GOP. Sen Kennedy of Louisiana: "When does life begin?" Senator Marsha Blackburn of TN : "what is your definition of a woman?" Two ridiculous questions. Ted Cruz with his flow charts, trying to diliberately disrupt judge Jacksons train of thought. He never let her finish answering his questions. Chairman Dick Durbin interjected Cruz's questioning by saying "Let judge Jackson answer the questions fully." Ketanji is all in on perverts ,CRT and illegal immigration. After all she was indoctrinated at Harvard. She will be a leftist advocate rather than rule constitutionally. But she replaces a similar judge in Breyer. One would hope that she moves more to the center but I am not counting on it.
