I know these stats don't mean much. Especially when you're 5 - 4 and the only stats that matter are Ws and Ls. But I found them interesting anyway.
Baker has has the D ranked in the top 20 in 3 major categories:
We are ranked 18th in scoring defense, allowing 18.3 pts/game.
We are ranked 14th in total defense, allowing 290 yds/game, and
We are ranked 12th in rushing defense, allowing 97.8 yds/game.
We are also ranked 35th in passing offense, passing for 269.2 yds/game. I expect this number to go up, as JW and the OL seem to be showing improvement.
So the defense, outside of the VT game, has played pretty well all season. It's been the offense and the kicking game that has held us back. Just FYI.
