This is about our program being down for 20 years. That's the truth. Fans are tired of losing and not seeing Miami in the conversation. We had a taste of it under Richt in his second season being number 2 so late in the year. Fans forget that and really just expect to beat teams like PITT like we lost to that year....and FIU this year.
I don't care what anyone says we have the talent to beat teams like this. It isn't talent. I think we have to stop putting 20 years of losing on Manny Diaz in one season. It isn't about him. We have had either a school that just isn't willing to invest in a big time football program, to pending sanctions, to the cloud, to a coach that is ready to retire. So we are projecting all of that on Manny Diaz as some savior that can wave a magic want and fix this year 1. He isn't going to fix our problems instantly. No coach does. Not Kirby Smart, not Saban, not Dabo.....it just doesn't work that way in general. Sure you have had coaches come in and have instant success in the past. That is the exception, not the rule. I saw this happen at Oklahoma and at OSU. These places aren't Miami. Miami is just a different program.
Manny will need a few years to fix this and we can not like this all we want. It won't change the facts. We can just keep looking for coaches because we can't handle losing, or we find a coach and build something. This thing where people always want the hot girl that won't go out with them instead of the one that has been there from day 1 is what I see. I see people bringing up Mario Cristabal. He is not coming to Miami and it isn't Mannys fault. Manny wants to be here and Mario does not. Get over it already. Not to mention he is still unproven as a head coach. He just lost to Arizona State himself. I'm not convinced he would win every game he is supposed to win either.
