I was a bit surprised (but not shocked) that UCLA lost to Cincinnati last night. I was shocked by the horrific performance of Dorian Thompson-Robinson, the UCLA QB. You might recall that the Canes and many other teams recruited DTR. He was Tate Martell’s backup and successor at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas where he completed a lot of passes to our own 9 Brevin Jordan.

Last night, DTR was 8-26 with two interceptions and two disastrous fumbles. Both fumbles were in the Red Zone. He was not touched on either fumble. He simply lost the handle on the ball. Twice.

DTR started as a true freshman last year and is in his second year under Chip Kelly. In comparison, I think we can all feel fortunate that Jarren Williams in his second year shows great promise. Though harassed all night vs Florida, he played credibly and courageously against an excellent defense. I’m expecting big things for him vs UNC.

Glad we landed Jarren rather than DTR.
