If anythin the miney discrepancy in the 80s was more outlandishly tilted towards the SEC. There were much fewer regulations and money got thrown around like crazy.
Car dealerships were known for buying players brand new cars. Player parking lots looked like executive parking lots. The money handshake was an expectation, not a hidden bonus.
The SE, Tx, and other schools were tossing money around like it was comming out of the ground..... or multiplying itself... oh, yeah..... it was!!!! It was the Texas oil boom and a huge upswing in the stock market!!!!
Miami.... by comparison was still treating football in a sane and normal way by comparison. We had the facilities of a high school and no boosters to speak of..... cause we had sucked for all eternity before. The campus looked more like the industrial warehouses just south on us1. The quality of the education was pathetic. It was Sun Tan U.
