With all respect toward academia, the REAL economics lesson is this.
If we started over and gave every adult in the country the same amount of money, after ten years, the people who are wealthy now would be wealthy again, and the poor losers who are broke would go broke again. What I was trying to push through Lou's thick cranium the other day is that unequal wealth distribution is caused largely by stupid people being on the same planet as smart people.

My point is that if you gave 99% of the young adults in the world 14M they would never come close to turning it into billions. They would all blow it on bullshit. They would not build a real estate empire and become billionaires.
Being that Trump has either owned or started over 500 businesses that one hell of a batting average
I could've simply invested that 14m in the S&P in the 70s, instructed the broker to reinvest all dividends then boarded a spaceship to hibernate on an asteroid for 40 years, then returned to planet earth last year to find myself as having twice Trump's net worth. Its not rocket science - it takes money to make money and the more you start off with the faster you can make a hell of a lot more.

Trump is super successful. I don’t think anyone is saying that he’s not. But to act like this guy is some brilliant business man is also ridiculous. The family was already rich. He got 14 million from dad. He then became so over leveraged that domestic banks stopped lending him money. He’s had 6 bankruptcies, not including the countless ventures that have failed. He’s been sued countless times for either not paying or fraud. If he simply stuck to his business model of licensing his name out in the early 90’s, he’d probably be 4 to 5 times richer. But he’s an egomaniac who thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room.

Being objective and being from the New York area he did take a couple high risk with real estate that paid off big that nobody in their right mind would touch....but this dude should be about 10 times wealthier than he is. He blew a lot of money and his rich daddy has bailed him out countless times. Also, there is something to be said about the fact that there isn't a bank or credit union in America that would loan him a thin dime. He isn't nearly the business man he gets credit for but like I said, to be objective he promotes himself fairly well. He puts his name on anything he can make a fast buck off of. He isn't good with money. It's virtually impossible to lose money in the casino business. Even with the new laws. The guy was taking money from junk bonds with horrible finance rates.
He is not someone I would want to do business with and I am still being completely objective here. He just doesn't do a good job paying his bills on time and / or not at all.
This is for people with a moral compass. Not slave to a profit at all cost. Some people have something called values. I know you don't know the meaning of the word. Perhaps you should look it up.
