I grew up in the 80s and 90s and watched Jordan. It was must see TV. It was a different league back then. The physicality and competition between teams was at another level. I dont know what "it" is but Jordan had it and Lebron doesnt...at least not at Jordan's level.

They were forced to be better players in the 80’s and 90’s because they had to work harder and play smarter in order to get their rock to the hole. Just look at the body difference between then and now. Everyone is just so tall and lanky now. In the 80’s and 90’s every team had their several shaq, mourning, johnson, bird, ewing, robinson, barkly, rodman, etc players that looked like nfl tight end’s because you had to have it because no one including the refs gave you shit. You are so right about the must see tv too. No game was taken for granite. Every game was a huge game. Every arena for every game was a sell out with every walk of life.
