Horton Update

The growing consensus is that Horton will be the next player to flip to the Miami Hurricanes. The three-star interior defensive lineman committed to North Carolina and was rumored to make his commitment Wednesday night but according to a source his announcement has now been pushed back to Sunday at 1 PM. Miami has been in constant communication with Horton since the Canes offered him back in September. Adding Horton will add to a position of need on the interior of the defensive line. Miami is looking to add more to the line and is expected to flip another defensive lineman from the Big Ten east division.

Miami is expecting...

to land Marcellius Pulliam today. This is a two-team race between Louisville and Miami but the growing consensus at this time is that the 2023 three-star linebacker is committing to Miami's class. The 6'3" linebacker from Georgia is expected to commit today at 7 PM which will be available on his Instagram live. This is a developing story.

If Miami lands Pulliam, he would be the fourth linebacker to an already loaded LB class of Malik Bryant, Raul Aguirre, and Bobby Washington.

2023 LB Stanquan Clark eying two more official visits - Miami in good spot

Spoke with Stanquan Clark yesterday, and despite his Louisville commitment he described Miami as one of his "Top Schools". Canes in a great spot here to host the 2023 linebacker for an OV before early signing day, where he intends to sign.

More on Rivals:

Byron Cardwell in the portal

As a freshman under Mario Cristobal at Oregon… He averaged 6.8 YAC. 61 Att for 417 yards and 3 TD. He was 3rd in the depth chart behind Verdell & Dye as well.

He didn’t get playing time at all under Lanning & Dillingham. That’s crazy. I really hope we can convince this kid to come to Miami. 6.8 YAC as a true freshman is no joke.

Mario not taking a flyer on Trey Benson was an L. Hard to blame him because Benson never played at Oregon. That kid is awesome at FSU. Maybe he will take Cardwell and it pays off in the future.

A couple new names from the SEC to keep an eye on in the transfer portal for Miami

Khyree Jackson from Alabama, a former big 6'3" JUCO cornerback from East Mississippi Community College. Miami has a bit of interest to get involved here once things open up on Monday with the transfer portal market.

- Khyree Jackson Profile

The other is Traeshon Holden, a former 4-star WR in the class of 2020 who signed with Alabama. I was told by a few sources that he has interest in Miami, no offer from Miami's side just yet. Holden recorded 6 touchdown receptions during the 2022 season.

Why, oh why, please explain

We have a head coach paid $8 mill
ion a year, a coaching staff that consists of highly paid experienced college coaches, a couple of whom were previous head coaches. We have a roster with a couple of 5 star HS players, probably 30 four star high school players and the rest 3 stars. In addition we have several Portal experienced players from P5 schools. Yet we lose to Middle Tennesse, cant score double figures against Texas A&M and lose at home to a UNC team that didn't resemble Wake Forrest, to say nothing of Clemson. And why did it take 4 games for TVD to get "comfortable" as the apologists have claimed? Why has Cobie Young not played before? And a hundred other why's?

Is there any other answer except our coaching staff is not as good as advertised?

Should Miami Go After A Quarterback?

I'm hearing Miami is not looking to add another 2023 quarterback. Should they add another quarterback through the transfer portal. I think they should.

Quarterback play was bad bad this season. This team needs insurance in case the injury bug bites them again.

Things Change Quickly in the Pursuit of Rueben Bain

With Roc Bellantoni gone from Auburn, this should now be a race between Miami and Louisiville. Hearing some rumors that Charlie Partridge is a name to monitor as potential addition to the staff next season. Bellantoni was Partridge's DC at FAU and he actually still has his family down here in Boca. Would not be surprised to see him be added in an off the field role, which would help solidify Rueben Bain to Miami.

Louisville still has the last visit, so that is something to watch. I do not think NIL will be the deciding factor in this. Relationships and best fit. Do not see Alabama as a factor right now and do not foresee any other big programs jumping in. Huge development for Miami.

Brian Hartline Potentially to Cincy Could Make Things Interesting

Hearing from a source that if Hartline takes the Cincinnati job, expect a decommitment from five-star wide receiver Brandon Inniss and more. That would put Miami squarely in position to grab Inniss, four-star running back Fletcher and four-star legacy cornerback Damari Brown.

Florida and now Florida State are still in the race for Fletcher right now but the momentum coming at the end of this cycle and Ohio State movement could be changing the fortunes of Miami at American Heritage Plantation.

Quick Recruiting Notes: Good News And More Coming, Miami Going On A Run

Just popping by here in the boards and sharing a few quick recruiting notes before an entire recruiting update that will be dropping on the site today.

After speaking to a few sources this week, it sounds like Miami is not going to cool down on the recruiting trail anytime soon. Especially after landing a shocking commitment from 5-star cornerback Cormani McClain.

In fact it’s going to heat up on the road to the early signing period in late December for the next seven weeks. A few commitments could be coming soon for Miami. A couple I have been told in terms of out-of-state commitments. Mario Cristobal is going national.

While I was under the impression last night that 4-star cornerback Damari Brown would just be announcing a top three of Miami, Florida State and Alabama this evening. After speaking to a source this morning, there is a possibility that a commitment could actually come as early as of today. Certainly would be a quick turn of events and surprising even considering Brown is taking his official visit to Miami this weekend, we are prepared either way at Canes County.

I still remain firm and confident in my FutureCast Pick I made for Damari Brown to Miami over a month ago. That pick and possible commitment also ties in directly with the recruitment of a few cornerbacks still on the board.

Four-star Ja’Keem Jackson and Four-star Sharif Denson, two cornerbacks I want to mention here that are committed to the Florida Gators class. Miami has ramped up recruiting efforts with both prospects over the course of October and I like what I hear in terms of Miami’s chances with Jackson, if they choose to turn up the heat on a potential flip. Both cornerbacks are receptive and listening to Miami’s recruiting pitch.

In regards to Four-star California cornerbacks Daylen Austin and Rodrick Pleasant. While Austin is committed to LSU and saying all the right things about the Tigers, there is growing confidence from USC and Oregon they could change that commitment. Miami is involved here and pushing. The Canes have not been aggressively pushing for Rodrick Pleasant to this point.

While I am not ready to predict a FutureCast for Ja’Keem Jackson to Miami just yet with the CB board still shaking out. I have flipped a FutureCast for Three-star CB/WR Edwin Joseph to Florida State.
Miami has backed off quite a bit from the local product over the month of October after receiving more confidence and re-assurance before the commitment from Five-star Cormani McClain became public.

Joseph has taken a few visits to other schools along the likes of Florida State, Penn State, Louisville and Auburn. Along with an on-campus visit to Miami this season.

Oklahoma has now entered the fray and pushing for a visit. Florida State and Penn State are the main two to watch here moving forward for Joseph and there still is a chance he could visit Miami for the Florida State game Saturday.

The Canes have lost some footing with newly reclassified (2023) Five-star cornerback Desmond Ricks compared to where they stood with the prospect coming out of the summer. Ricks will be visiting LSU for the second time this season on Saturday.

Ricks has an official visit set up with the Florida Gators in December, Alabama is pushing aggressively and Florida State is slowly trying to work into the mix. Florida State was once considered an early favorite in the spring during the 7on7 season. Miami gained a lot of ground in the summer on multiple schools that has diminished during the course of the 2022 season.

Miami’s coaching staff is working to get Ricks back on campus and secure an official visit in December. There is a chance Ricks could hold off on signing anywhere until February’s National Signing Day. The two main schools to watch here are Alabama and LSU at this moment.

Miami is making an aggressive push for defensive linemen. Three-star Joshua Horton (UNC Commit) from Fairburn, Georgia and Four-star Collins Acheampong (Michigan Commit) from Rancho Santa Margarita, California. I would keep a close eye on these two prospects moving forward.

Stay tuned, commitments are coming for Miami soon and I will have more for you guys tonight.

First time to Watso Center

Hi All,

I am going to the game on Wednesday vs Rutgers and I have never been on the miami campus or anywhere near coral gables.

I am coming with my parents and grandparents and have a few questions.

Parking - does the stadium have a lot to park in, or a parking garage?

Stadium - my grandpa is getting up there in age and just want to know is it a pretty easily accessible stadium, and is it huge or is it like a normal college gym? Basically they are worried that it's going to be hectic and a lot of walking as if we were going to a game at an NBA arena vs a more relaxed setting usually at college games.

Thanks in advance

Changes

I personally would want Gattis to keep coaching up the wide receivers. He developed Colbie Young into a legit WR1.

I think Running Backs Coach Kevin Smith, and Tight Ends Coach Stephen Field should stay based on their South Florida ties and I think Linebackers Coach Charlie Strong should stay along with Alex Mirabal. What is concerning is that we do not have any defensive tackles committed to the 2023 class, but you cannot deny what this defensive line has done and how much Leonard Taylor has developed.

The changes Cristobal decides to make will be critical to the future. After one year he realizes how much work needs to be done.

We anticipate plenty of changes and firings are on the way. Which coaches do you want to see stay or go?

Also hearing that a quarterback is certainly going into the transfer portal based on what his roommate thinks.

Which Quarterback(s) do you want to see stay or go?

Another Rough Offensive Showing - Time for Change?

It was rough once again from an offensive perspective. Jake Garcia show signs of life in the second half and it was good to see some of the receivers making plays, like Brinson, Redding and George. I'm conflicted on if this offensive staff needs another year to prove themselves or not. Restrepo came into the press conference and was asked why things went so wrong this year. His answer was strong and to the point - injuries and implementing a new offense (it has been constant transition offensively during many of these players career) were the main contributors. Gattis has shown in the past he can be one of the better offensive coaches in college football. He has been part of winning cultures and been credited as being a big part of the success of those spots. Is it just not a fit? Is patience needed to get him his personnel (new WRs, six new OL coming in, strong push at RB in 2023)? Maybe some mediation is needed between Gattis and the Mario duo of Ponce and Maribal?
