First get rid of Steel and make Charlie Strong the DC. Then you might not like this but would be a great hire as LB coach, Larry Shannon. This will only help to bring back our LB position to where it once was and the recruiting with him and Strong on the defensive side would be through the roof.

Miami. In a drawn-out recruitment process, Miami finally get Johnson's commitment Saturday. Miami has essentially replaced the versatile back with another versatile back from Broward County.

Jaylan Knighton is reunited with Rhett Lashlee at SMU and Miami finally gets a running back to the 2023 class. Johnson was upgraded from a three-star to a four-star this season.

Miami loses impact, interior pass rusher Darrell Jackson to the portal. With the NIL factor that ended up bringing him to Miami and the type of season he had, very confused why he is jumping back in the portal. Expect Miami to continue to push for DTs in 2023 and especially the portal. Former Deerfield Beach DT Alton Tarber, who once had Miami among his top schools, is a name to watch, as well as players not currently in the portal yet

Hearing that Miami is starting to pick up steam with Pittsburgh commit three-star CB Shadarian Harrison out of Lakeland. Harrison plays opposite Cormani McClain and staffer DVD was actually in attendance to see him play last week. He had two interceptions in that state semi-final game that ended up finishing 14-7, so critical plays in crunch time for him. He now has five interceptions on the year and physically, he fits the mold of what Miami wants at the position, measuring out at 6'2" 175.

Heyward covers his top-six with some other programs making a push to be among his favorites.

This one was not surprising, as we reported during the season that Knighton was to jump in the Portal at the end of the year. He showed flashes of old Rooster at the end of the season and will likely pick up interest from the Power 5 ranks as a veteran back with over 1600 total yards and 14 touchdowns in his career

After speaking to 2024 WR Chance Robinson, Miami is definitely in a great spot with the local talent.

Mario Cristobal continues to move toward a top-ten class. If he can close out the likes of local stars like Inniss, Fletcher, Fagan, and Bain, and out-of-state stars like Okunlola, Horton, and Etta. Top class could be a real thing. One things for sure Mario and company can recruit with ANYBODY. Help is on the way and as we saw with Bissainthe and Kelly it could happen as soon as next year.

A few other notes

• Horton dominated the game while playing inside at defensive tackle and told me that's where he will be playing for Miami
• He was already set to move up in the rankings based on an eval we had earlier in the year but impressed again on Friday and will likely creep up even higher when the rankings come out this week.
• He was a take for Georgia but a late push from Miami helped them win this one.

The growing consensus is that Horton will be the next player to flip to the Miami Hurricanes. The three-star interior defensive lineman committed to North Carolina and was rumored to make his commitment Wednesday night but according to a source his announcement has now been pushed back to Sunday at 1 PM. Miami has been in constant communication with Horton since the Canes offered him back in September. Adding Horton will add to a position of need on the interior of the defensive line. Miami is looking to add more to the line and is expected to flip another defensive lineman from the Big Ten east division.
