As I get in the car this afternoon, at that very minute (like it was meant to be)

Cowherd begins his Top 5 of What He would like to see begining in 2021.

No. 1 ..... " I like to see MIAMI and USC become perennial Top 10 programs again ... Just better for college football "

"Miami and LA and what it has to offer... No offense Tuscaloosa but Miami and LA are the best for BiG games. "

AGREED

Dabo Swinney getting roasted by several media outlets...

USA article by Dan Wolken is titled “What happened to Dabo Swinney ,even as Clemson wins, he loses with out of touch stances.
Article points out numerous Incorrect statements, or stupid comments, etc.

Deadspin named Dabo, the 6th biggest idiot of the year!
Called him, “Brainless molder of young minds”

For many being a HC includes more than just winning!
They are father figures, mentors, helping young men develop character, discipline, and values on their way to manhood

Hard to believe, however there is always a critic.
It’s quite obvious you can’t please everyone regardless of how successful you are

Screw all quitters

Since when are you applauded and given national awards for bailing on your team? King didn’t bail and he injured his knee trying to score. Kudos to the true Canes that stick around. All the rest are just using the brand for a paycheck. We needed all starters tonight. Hope all the quitters feel really great about their draft prep. They can’t hold King’s jock.

How to shut down the Canes offense

If the last two games prove anything it is that if you shut down King's ability to run, then the Canes are in big trouble. King is a magnificent leader and a stellar human being, but we need a QB who checks off his first receiver and looks downfield. If King's first receiver is covered, he invariably runs. Bad coaching? I don't know. All I know is N'Kosi did a hell of a job for a QB who is not supposed to be anything. Let the backs run and QB pass.

Our Defense gave up 40.2 points per game to

FBS teams with winning records. This includes Pitt (we held to 19 pts.) which had a winning record but only beat 4 FBS teams. If you take Pitt out of the equation, it's 45 pts. per game. Yes, this is equivalent to 6 TD's, 6 xp's and a FG per game. Manny has recruited every player and every coach. If you believe what he says, he has a lot to do with the day to day defense work. We need better

Basically a .500 program since Coker ...

... and our team has been made up of 4 star South Florida players. The elites leave, but Miami is still a 4 star South Florida talent program. You would think between Shannon, Golden (hot commodity at the time), Richt (I love the guy, but we barely beat teams with the exception of that beautiful Va Tech / ND 2 game stretch) and Manny ... just off percentages Miami would have struck gold by now. Maybe it's time to question is South Florida overrated? Is it possible that ALL these coaches / position coaches suck!?!?!? Or maybe the 3 star SF player is a 4/5 star everywhere else isn't true. Miami just lost AGAIN and this time to some ... 2/3 star players from Oklahoma and Texas. Last year it was unranked and 2 star players from Louisiana. Maybe 4 star SF players are 2 star players everywhere else (being sarcastic). I think the issue is the players ALSO ...

The WR room has been an issue for sometime now.

Every year we hear that we have these great wide receivers and that the receiver room is one of our strengths of the team, but when was the last time we truly had a go to receiver. All I have seen this program recruit have been fast slot receivers who need to be wide open to catch the ball but when a play needs to be made, they can't get open or drop the ball. Is Leonard Hankerson the last true go to receiver this team had. I know people are going to say Ahmmon Richards but he got injured his sophomore year and never got to fulfill his potential.

Lack of Talented Coaches in NCAA Football

There is a reason why only 4 teams are in the CFP nearly every year. The talent pool of coaches is way below average, and it has been this way ever since Pete Carroll left USC. It's been Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, and Dabo Swinney running the show with programs like Georgia, Oregon, and Oklahoma getting the final spot.

The only way to improve the talent pool is by raiding the NFL. Position coaches in the NFL make for excellent college coordinators. We need to bring back Jess Simpson as the DC.

Pope, Wiggins are Dugans recruits

I am done with this coaches recruits. He did not evaluate nor develop these guys along with others who left the program early. Harley is a Dugans recruit but he has been the most reliable of the 3. Yes he fumbled the punt but it looked like the ball hit his shoulder pad. He may have misjudged the ball due to fatigue. Why these 3 get the majority of snaps is a mystery.
Others who left the program early are
2016 JC Dyall Harris left after his 1st yr
Jeff Thomas had several run ins with Dugans
Brian Hightower 2017 4* IMG academy In 2 yrs caught only 10 passes, had trouble breaking away from the line of scrimmage
Marquez Ezzard was supposed to be the next Anquan Boldin. Had a huge upside 6-2, 215 4.4 40 time, 38 inch vertical. Redshirted his 1st yr, 2017. did not see the field in 2018. left before the fall of 2019.
If the coaching was were it needed to be Hightower and Ezzard would be part of current group of WRs and we wouldnt be watching the agony of dropped balls.

What you see on the field is what I taught them to do or what I allow them to do (paraphrased quote)

You remember who said this about Jimmy Johnson? It was Gary's all-time fave, the man himself, Mario Cristobal.

Players do what they're taught by the coaches, or what they're allowed to do.

Dropped passes - we have reason to believe that the coaches don't teach them this (although I'm not convinced), so it must be that the coaches allow it. And that is believable because there are absolutely no consequences at all to dropped passes.

Bad tackling, poor coverage techniques - again, I assume the coaches don't teach them this (but I'm not convinced), so it must be that the coaches allow it.

Players get rewarded (not punished) but rewarded by bad play by not losing their spots in the rotation. The coaches allow this to perpetuate, which results in the culture of mediocrity (at best) that we currently have. Our coaches may not teach bad habits....but they allow it...and so they allow our program to have a loser mentality.

King will not be our starting QB in 2021

ACL surgery around 1/15/2021,assuming no setbacks(infection, etc) the earliest he could return to football would be 8 months, making it 9/15/2021.
Would take him 2 weeks to get back into offense and football shape. He would still not be 100% physically, particularly limiting his athleticism, his best asset. .So he could come back in earli October.mainly as pocket passer, with limited mobility.
Meantime either Nkosi TVD or Garcia take over starting QB position and grow during spring, fall practices and would be in mid season form by October.

Personally think Nkosi will be the guy,he will thrive in Lashlee’s offense

11-13-35-6

That’s our recruiting ranking the last four years not counting this year. Miami is located in a talent rich area with WR and DB all over. However we can’t find a WR who could catch or a DB who could cover. It’s 100% coaching. Bring in someone like Urban and UM would be playing for a championship by year 2. Because he would not only recruit better he knows how to develop and has a proven system. I’m so tired of this university being so bad.

Has anyone else noticed that all year long our WRs never...

...come back to the ball through the defender in order to force a PI penalty to be called? Even tonight, Brevin didn’t do it. Don’t get me wrong, he was clearly interfered with, but he could have made it even more obvious had he come back to the ball. If I’m not mistaken, the announcer even commented on his failure to do so.

Yet another example of incompetent coaching.

Patrick Surtain DC?

The guy is proven winner as former player and high school coach. Has the connections in the 954 and 305, and I’m sure can bring in a solid coaching staff (former players and strong recruiters). I know everyone, including myself, wants a big name proven DC. But let’s be honest, which proven DC will come here under manny.... just a thought
