Since ‘06 bowl season: 61 of 65 Power 5 teams have won more bowl games than UM

Heard that stat this AM on ACCN’s Packer & Durham show, courtesy of co-host Mark Packer, who credited the info to Pick Six Preview.

As Packer then noted using his familiar catch-phrase:

“Let that marinate a second.”

As is, Miami has now lost 10 of its last 11 bowl games.

Let that marinate another second.

Go Canes!

Is There Any Other Profession/Job Where There Is No Consequence For Failure/Incompetence Like Manny...?

Especially being paid, what, $4M per year?

CEO of a Fortune 500 company?
CPA?
Attorney?
Doctor?
Professional Athlete?

Amazing the level of incompetence/failure that this coaching staff, and specifically Manny, can get away with week after week, without any consequence of being fired, demoted, re-assigned, etc. And it happened with other coaches too like Golden-Turkey Tits.

This University has the highest tolerance for incompetence/failure by its football employees than any other University I can think of right now, and I'm unaware of any other profession in America where it also exists.

Team Stats for Cheez-It Bowl

This title kills me!

Anyway, many of you know I'm a stats geek! If you knew that, you know what to expect here. Also, I used CFBStats, FWIW. Also, for those of us that still have NIGHTMARES of the 2003 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in 2003, OSU here means Oklahoma State University, not Ohio State (I can't type OSU without saying a curse word....SHIT!!!).

  • Scoring Offense
    • Miami - Ranked 27 at 34/G
    • OSU - Ranked 57 at 29.5/G
      • Advantage Miami by 4.5 points
  • Scoring Defense

    • Miami - Ranked 44 at 26/G
      • Advantage OSU by 3.6 points

  • Rushing Defense
    • OSU - Ranked 60 at 160.5/G
    • Miami - Ranked 83 at 180.6/G (Note: 139.1/G allowed before that embarrassing fiasco against UNC. But it counts!! Baker gotta go!)
      • Advantage OSU by 31.5 yards
  • Passing Offense
    • Miami - Ranked 30 at 269.4/G
    • OSU - Ranked 58 at 233/G

Other notable stats:

  • Turnover Margin - Miami (ranked 24th vs. 75th for OSU)
    • OSU is in the negative by a bit

  • Sacks allowed - OSU (both suck - 95th and 110th))
  • TFL - Miami (both are awesome - 4th and 8th)
  • TFL allowed - OSU (back to sucking. 111th and 120th)

Based on worthless stats (since the game is not played on paper):

Miami wins 28 - 27
OSU rushes for 187 vs Miami's 162
Miami passes for 237 vs OSU's 230
Miami has 8 penalties for 71 yards while OSU has 7 for 60 (lol at this one)
Miami recovers 2 TO's to OSU's 1
Miami sacks OSU 3 for 17 yards while OSU sacks Miami 3 times for 20 yards
Both have 8 TFL for 31 yards.

Now...back to work.

WRs dropping balls is 100% mental.

Why does an all star second baseman like Steve Sax all of the sudden become unable to throw the ball to first base? Why did David Duval go from being the top player in golf to not being able to make a cut because he can't keep the ball out of the woods? How do kickers go from being the best in the business to not being able to hit an extra point? Why do guys with perfect free throw form shoot 50% from the line? Their mechanics don't change; their mindset does. It's mental, but I'm not sure what a coach can do once it starts except move on to other players down the depth chart. These WRs see a ball coming their way and instead of thinking "this is my moment to shine" they are thinking "damn I hope I don't drop this".

Can't sleep ... a question!

Why does the "other team" we play ALWAYS makes the plays!? It can be 7-5 Washington State, 6-6 California, La Tech ... or Oklahoma State. I know we like to rag on Blake, Manny ... the status of our beloved program, but aren't we in a better position than 80% of the other programs? We could have played 2-8 South Carolina in the Independence Bowl just now ... and somehow Miami would have lost on a last second FG 21-24. Just frustrates me watching Mike Gundy for example ... yeah, he'll lose to Oklahoma 9 out of 10 years, but he'll beat everyone else.

Thoughts and prayers to D’erique...

Hope his knee isn’t as bad as it appears.
Most likely blew out a ligament planting his right foot on a cut back.
This kid is a stand up leader, respected by teammates.
He lost his father in February,
He decides to come back and play under Lashlee year 2 and this happens???
Fate is so unpredictable
Heres to a quick and speedy recovery!!!
Classy young man!

Little boys - Wiggins & Pope

Anytime I see them play someone decent they are falling on the ground, dropping passes, getting spooked. The kids are soft and entitled.

To win in college football you need men not little boys. You need tough MFs with no fear. Santana Moss & Randal hill were little but they were men. Solid as a rock, physical, scrappy. This p#ssy Pope can have all the high school stars he wants, he is trash.

wiggins is in the mold of Horace Copeland, Lamar Thomas but he is a b!tch. Hi C and Lamar were skinny greyhounds that were flying all over the place...always mixing it up. never seen them back down from a fight for a ball. Wiggins gets touched and just falls down.

these kids are like little league players. I’m sick of bitches like this embarrassing this program and those greats.

I never thought I’d find a softer WR than Lance Leggett....well now I found 2.

take their scholarships away, hit the portal

Gary, just curious, did you think we would win?

I’m just curious, at any point leading up to this game, did you think we might actually win? I just felt the inevitable would once again occur as it did but I actually thought we’d get blown out. Team played hard but is just flawed in too many areas and spotting any team 21 points and then playing a 45 min game is a tough task. Credit to kids like Kosi and Brevin but it just wasn’t enough.
I just had a feeling that there was no way we would win a bowl game and I actually advocated for us to decline the invitation because it didn’t matter who we were going to match up with, I didn’t think we would win and I was unfortunately right. This was a HUGE game that we could not afford to lose or, in reality, we could not afford to play. Absolutely awful that King got hurt after doing the right thing and committing to come back! Hard to catch a break right now.

Snap Counts Count

Snap Counts in the WR room mean something. Wiggins had 63. Mark Pope had 70. That means 2 things. Non of them positive. 1) either Manny, as we’ve seen, hates playing the younger guys like poison. In spite of their having horrific nights, and very pedestrian careers? Or 2) the WR’s in the room are dumber than rocks....AND were inappropriately given schol

here’s the grades for last night...
LB COREY FLAGG - 79.0 GRADE from PFF
Flagg had 41 snaps during the bowl

Flagg finished the game rated #2 best among ALL Canes in last night’s game. He had 2.5 tackles and graded out as the best run defender, according to PFF, earning an 84.9 run defense grade and a 77.5 tackling grade.

And here is where I am beginning to think Manny Diaz may not be the guy. At least not in any way connected to the Defense. Maybe as strict CEO? Flagg and starting middle linebacker Bradley Jennings Jr. split the snaps fairly evenly.

How is that even possible? Jennings didn’t finish anywhere in the top 10! And yet he split snaps evenly with Flagg? WTF?

Is cheating worth it???

HELL YEAH!!! We cheated and won and I want to win again. Pay players, buy cars and line up the pu$$y! I'll take 1 championship every 4-5 years vs what we have now. I'm doing my part here in GA. Every lil monster i see i try and sell the U to the parents lol. Done paid 10-15 light bills for single moms all in the name of the U lol. Who here doesn't care how it happens as long as we win a championship in 3 years. My hand is raised HIGH🙋🏾‍♂️🖐🏾🙌🏾...

PS# Sorry,not sorry.
