Miami trending for four-star tight end

Four-star tight end Elija Lofton enjoyed his visit to Miami and the Hurricanes are in a great position to land its first tight end of the 2024 class.

The superstar tight end from Bishop Gorman could very well walk in the footsteps of former Gorman and Hurricane tight end Brevin Jordan.

He impressed at OT7 in Phoenix and had an outstanding sophomore and junior year with 52 receptions 1,263 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Intel on Gino DiMare

Dual athlete Kaden Martin, (the son of Tee Martin - the former Tennessee quarterback) was expected to make some kind of impact in year one with the University of Miami. Unfortunately, Kaden Martin decided to re-enter the transfer portal after transferring from Tennessee to Miami. Martin is a two-sport athlete who played both football and basketball.

At Miami, Kaden Martin did not appear in a football game, and in baseball, he played two games and totaled three at-bats and no hits.

Sources believe that Martin was treated unfairly at Miami and that is the reason along with a lack of playing time he chose to leave the program after one year. Legal action may advance to the Miami baseball program and the University of Miami as a result.

Miami offers former Tennessee commit - Top 10 '24 WR

Miami getting in the picture for top Mississippi wide out JJ Harrell. He was committed to the Vols for three-plus months before opening things back up. Ole Miss and Mississippi State are the two favorites right now with LSU looming after a spring visit. Will be interesting to see if Miami can get him on campus before the dead period starts in July. Fits the mold of an outside receiver that Miami is searching to add with four-star commit Chance Robinson.

Rivals100 2025 QB to cut down options, Miami making the cut

Miami continues to press for four-star QB Ryan Montgomery. The rising junior had a zoom meeting with his father and Miami coaches Mario Cristobal and Shannon Dawson this week.

The relationship has been built quickly since the hiring of Dawson and Montgomery will be making the trip to Miami's top prospect BBQ in July.

The pursuit of three-star passers looks to be ending in the 2024 class for Miami, as Montgomery is one of several top signal callers who are in heavy communication with Dawson over the last couple months - a drastic change in recruiting timeline and talent evaluation from members of the previous offensive staff.

A 2024 QB Prospect Back on the Board for Miami?

I am hearing that Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson has strong interest in LSU commit Colin Hurley and a push for a flip may have begun. Spoke to some people around LSU during the 7v7 season and was hearing that the staff was not as on board with the addition of the reclassified Hurley as quarterback coach Joe Sloan, who I've heard is all in on the Florida native. That could make things interesting by the end of the year if LSU has the same success as last year or better, as Sloan could be one of the popular head coach candidates in the next coaching turnover of college football.

Miami has been quiet on the front of quarterback recruiting, seemingly content with the idea of just bringing in three-star, high potential passer Judd Anderson in this class. The push for Hurley is not something new, though. Head coach Mario Cristobal had built a good relationship with Hurley prior to his commitment to LSU and the Trinity Christian passer had been on campus several times over the last couple year. On top of that, he and his family have Miami ties, originally living down here in South Florida. Last season, I got a chance to speak to Hurley before he reclassified and he spoke about those roots and his relationship with Miami. "It's great. I'm originally from Miami," said Hurley about his relationship with the Canes. "Honestly, my relationship with the staff is amazing. I came down there for the Legends Camp and was the highest rated quarterback there according to the coaches. They let me know I was the priority for them in 2025.”

The development of him potentially flipping is not likely to happen quickly, but with Dawson picking up interest and a prior relationship with his South Florida ties - plus the seemingly odd dynamic of his take at LSU - make him an interesting QB prospect for Miami heading into the summer.
