A brand new AD coming into a program that has underachieved for years and who is fully aware of how long Manny has been here (6 years) and how Manny got hired would actually prefer to come into a job where he would jump into a coaching search.

I have been a CEO for both large profitable companies and now for a nonprofit organization. Making the decision of who becomes part of my team is important to me. I want to come in and immediately start working on building my team. I could care less of who is actually there. Most times I’m just getting rid of everyone there. I’m getting hired to improve the company not to keep it running the same way it’s been running.

There is absolutely no reason why the new AD would want to make the decision on Manny. The new AD does want to make the decision on the new coaching hire but he could care less of being the one to decide Manny’s fate. This is all a smoke screen for the administration to keep Manny one more year and cowardly blame the decision on someone else. Most AD’s will prefer a job with a clean slate for them to build their own team.
