61% suggests that independents are on board with him, which is a good thing. I expect him to spend most of his Presidency in the 50s or high 40s, since that's how divided we are at the moment.

The trouble with this is the current Dem party standard bearer is Biden. The current GOP standard bearer is Trump and Marjorie Taylor-Green. If one side is centrist and the other is extreme fringe, then bipartisanship won't be possible.
I hear you but the GOP will normalize, the Trump loons will spin themself off or marginalize themselves. Most GOP are reasonable normal folks, once the white church becomes more responsible with what they tolerate the dominos will fall.
Many of them are normal folks, but the narratives are being driven by the pundit class - the evening lineup on Fox, Fox Business, talk radio, Newsmax, Breitbart, OANN etc., then amplified on social media. Donald Trump currently controls most of these folks, who in turn spoon freed Republican voters with misinformation, which in turn causes Republican politicians like Kevin McCarthy, Lindsey Graham and many others to follow the Trump narrative in order to keep their jobs. Until the pundits divorce with Trump, nothing will change and the Dems won't feel any need to be bipartisan with a fringe, conspiracy theorist party.

That's how it works. If you put false information out there and millions of people believe it and share it, then you might end up with a cult of lobotomized sheep who can't tell fact from fiction.
