Our country & current administration has adopted an array of war time measures never employed collectively in US history---banning travelers from 2 continents, bringing commerce to a near halt, enlisting our industries to manufacture emergency medical gear & equipment & confirming over 230 million Americans to lockdown within their homes in a desparate attempt to survive an attack by an unseen adversary.
Despite these & other extreme measures, the US will likely go down as the country that was supposedly best prepared & equipped to fight a pandemic but ended up catastrophically over matched by the novel corona virus, sustaining heavier casualties than any other nation.
It didnt have to happen this way. Though not perfectly prepared, the US had more expertise, resources, plans and epidemilogical experience than other countries that ultimately fared better in fending off the virus.
#45's administration received its 1st formal notification of COVID-19 in China on January 3rd of this year. Within a few days, US spy agencies were signaling the seriousness of the threat to #45 by including a warning about the corona virus---the 1st of many in the president's daily brief.
And yet it took 70 days from the initial notification for #45 to treat the corona virus not as a distant threat or harmless flu strain well under control, but as a lethal force that had outflanked America's defenses & was poised to kill tens of thousands of citizens . The more than 2 month stretch now stands as a critical time that was squandered.

My conclusion is the US is on a trajectory to become the world's leader in Coronavirus cases per million resident. We are already the leader in the number of cases. Not a good look for Trump.

Truce brother, but I looked at the stats for Europe and the top 5 countries--It, Sp, Fr, Ger, UK-- have approximately the same population as the US. That is between 320 and 330 mil.
As of today, their # of cases is 425 k and ours is 301 k.
# of deaths for them is 37 k and ours is 8 k.
This is from the WHO for Europe and The NY Times for ours. Draw your own conclusions, I've had more than enough arguments today. To me, it shows that social medicine is the best way to choose who's to die.

Again, right now Europe is the Epicenter. I expect that this thing will hit all of the countries equally. Cases are a function of testing. Deaths in the five countries you named are at roughly 40,000. Deaths in this country are roughly 8,000. We have better medicine than those countries do.

This is just one example cems, but 60 min did a piece on healthcare in Thailand a few years ago, and charted Americans who would fly over there for their healthcare needs, mostly for major procedures. The healthcare was so much better than ours and much much cheaper as well.
I don't think we're as good as we think, especially in management, logistics, and cost.
To be lacking so much in medical supply stocks when these very government organizations (H&HS and the CDC) warned the adminstration about a likely pandemic is just criminal imo. Trump ignored the warnings. I just hope we learn from this.
