We go down 13-2 in another mismatch...as VT moves into sole possession of 2nd place in the Coastal...
The bloodbath is over...for only the 2nd time this year, we lose a series (first vs UF at home).

PITCHING
2nd night in a row they've blasted our pitching for 16 hits
LP" Ligon (4-2) didn't fare any better than Palmquist. Lasted only 3.2 innings...gave up 9 hits...9 runs, 8 earned, walked 2 and So only 3.
Gallo and Dubberly each gave up 2 runs in relief...awful performance by our pitchers this weekend...our batter have fared no better...
BATTING
Getting dominated by a FR P... only 2 runs on 5 hits, what is there to say?
DEFENSE
We made 1 error...but we made a lot of mistakes...
RECORDS
We fall to 27-8, 13-4/ACC, while VT improves to 23-8, 9-6/ACC. How have these guys lost so many games???
STAT OF THE GAME
Their FR starter Drue Hackenberg...he owned us like a rented mule holding us to just 5 hits. Meanwhile, VT's offense pounds us again with 16 hits...32 in 2 games...
BIG PICTURE
With UVA losing to Pitt, their skid continues as VT moves into 2nd place...we still lead them in the Coastal 13-4 to 9-6...
Will the meltdown continue? Can our coaches get our kids off the mat and do we have enough "want to" to win a game? We'll see.
UP NEXT
VT will have their brooms out going for the sweep in Game 3...no night game Saturday...earlier start at 2 pm...
BTW, I cannot cover Game 3...frankly, after covering the first 2 games I'm relieved but I will set up a game thread...I will check in if a can but after these first 2 debacles, I can't imagine there will be too much interest.
I can't imagine there's anyone left to read this mess...it was brutal to cover...all good things come to end but this has been total domination by a team that just entered the top 25 this week.
