If you can bring yourself to do so, go watch Hail Flutie on YouTube and you'll see the football somehow (I still can't understand it) going past two UM defenders, then miraculously being caught at the back of the end zone by a BC WR.
That year (1984) we had two very young CBs ( I believe FRs) who were in over their head and got burned badly not only by BC, but also by Maryland and UCLA, among others. Their names were Darrell Fullington and Tolbert Bain.
The next year they were pretty good, and they kept starting snd improving until they left the U.
Blades and Ivey remind me of these two very young DBs. They drive one crazy occasionally, but I believe next year and following ones they will be good, then very good. Just going through the growing pains.
My orange and green sunglasses make me want very young players at the U to play like they are upperclassmen. That is not fair. Young players make many mistakes, but you need to stick with them even so, knowing they will often improve a great deal their following years here.
