Today is a celebration to mark the end of a very dark period in American history. Although the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed all slaves, was signed more than two years earlier, and the Union had won the war, Texas for some reason never got the word slavery was abolished. We should all rejoice on this day but learn from our history.

Today, history seems to be repeating itself, with laws attacking our sacred right to vote. Those who responded to a thread yesterday applauding the signing of this new holiday should be fighting to stop voter suppression laws. Your failure to do so, shows Republicans only pretend to acknowledge our country's original sin of slavery even as they insist that racism is in our past.

Thanks to President Dementia Joe for signing this into law. I am just happy this happened and we are heavily reliant now on the democrats to take our country where it is needing to go. Hyenas think everything is okay while they storm our capital. We have no problems. It's all an excuse. The 15th amendment was passed with no bipartisan support. Sometimes you have to do that for the greater good. It's time to show hyenas how it will be given up!

Amazing, Although the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed all slaves. NOT CORRECT. Maybe you should spend Juneteenth learning your history rather than teaching fallacies. God knows you’re consistent.

Correct, no bipartisan support. Not one Democrat voted for it.

Why don't you tell us your truth, genius?

I'm still waiting on your response for your lie in this post.

You have heard of Dumber & Dumber? That's what we have here. Smh
No doubt about this fact. These people are special. No dem voted for Juneteenth when one signed it into law... not to mention plenty voted for it. Straight re re's.

If requiring valid ID and voter registration card in order to vote is racist, then I guess I am.

I was referring to the 15th Amendment that you correctly said was passed with NO Bipartisan support. You conveniently left out which party didn’t support it. Not one Democrat vote.

you’re such an uninformed idiot. The Emancipation Proclamation freed slaves in the Confederate States not all slaves. Actually it could be argued it freed no slaves since Lincoln did not control the Southern confederate States. For example genius During the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 freed slaves in Confederate states but not in the Union state of Maryland. Best part you start thread about slaves finally finding out they have been freed and it’s 2021 and you don’t know when slaves were freed. Go learn some history rather than waiting for the white man to school you

This entire post shows your ignorance. Stay informed.

Tell me you’re not embarrassed. Start a thread about freeing the slaves and don’t even know the history. The poor Texas Slaves were never told of their freedom. You on the other hand don’t even know the history of a topic you talk about all the time.

You continue to show your ignorance in every post. I will not educate you on stuff you should have learned in grammar school. You make no sense.

Why don't you ask a neighborhood 10 year old. He certainly knows more of history than you.

Feel like I’ve been talking history with a ten year old, only difference even a child knows and admits when he’s wrong. Hope you enjoyed schooling on Juneteenth.

You have not shown any evidence my opening post was factually incorrect. I'm waiting.

December 6th, 1865

The 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery in the United States, was passed on December 6th, 1865. If as you say the emancipation proclamation January 1, 1863 freed all slaves why did they pass the 13th amendment almost two years later. As I told you the proclamation freed slaves in the Confederate States By freeing slaves in the Confederacy, Lincoln was actually freeing people he did not directly control. The way he explained the Proclamation made it acceptable to much of the Union army. He emphasized emancipation as a way to shorten the war by taking Southern resources and hence reducing Confederate strength..

The proclamation declared, "all persons held as slaves within any States, or designated part of the State, the people whereof shall be in rebellion against the United States, shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free." The Emancipation Proclamation did not free all slaves in the United States.

What does it mean when someone can't admit they're wrong?
Some people have such a fragile ego, such brittle self-esteem, such a weak "psychological constitution," that admitting they made a mistake or that they were wrong isfundamentally too threatening for their egos to tolerate.

Why don't you use your own words and not some canned diatribe you googled?

OK You’re such a loser you don’t even get or admit when you’re wrong. You’re wrong way more than you’re right. Maybe you should read that canned message look in the mirror and have a real talk with yourself. Now tell me how your original post was all correct. Just answer how you were right I was wrong. You can’t or won’t do it. Now go back and read canned message.

Do you admit that was plagiarism on your part?

Didn't know footnotes required on a message board. After repeatedly being asked to prove your original post inaccurate and doing so, I questioned, what kind of person will never admit their wrong ? So I looked it up and then posted, partly as a self help jester to you. I think now I could have stayed with original thought about your lack of intelligence but who knows. You can just keep on butchering history and convincing yourself you’re intelligent and informed.

I've schooled your azz enough to know your mind is like a school boy who rode the short bus. As for never admitting I'm wrong, no need to do that. I'm God to you. Stay in your short bus lane.

While you’re schooling me because I’m on the short bus, please explain “ The Emancipation Proclamation “ and how it freed all the slaves. Go back to Best Buy’s where you belong.

Pretty indisputable information.I am totally surprised at cems continued argument.
People ”manufacture their own truths” to facilitate their personal perspectives.
Similar to Anti SEMTIC camel crotch sniffing Hawaii.
They ignore history to perpetuate their own ignorance on the subject

Our friend Zeke continues to deflect from the crux of my initial post with pointless gibberish unrelated to the subject. I correctly pointed out the harsh reality of what the Juneteenth Day celebration was about. It's about recognizing the end of slavery albeit not the official end date. The Emancipation Proclamation was an Executive Order (EO) issued by President Lincoln. Many of us know, EO's remain in effect until they are canceled/revoked, determined to be unlawful, or expire. Lincoln knew a constitutional amendment was needed in order to guarantee the abolishment of slavery. As a result, the 13th amendment was ratified in 1865. Those are the facts.

My opening post tied the Juneteenth Day celebration to the efforts of Republicans to suppress our right to vote. Those who support this new holiday should also be appalled at the level of voter suppression in the country. No one, including Zeke, offered any input on this subject. Instead, he played mindless word games that didn't further our discussion. My assessment is, Zeke would rather focus on a technical point about the meaning of the word "all" and not the substance of my post.

Now it’s me being technical. You didn’t know the facts and repeatedly stood by your incorrect, not technically incorrect, post. Try telling the slave that wasn’t freed “ It’s just a technical thing “

Why don't you respond directly to my post? You're being "technical" by posting more nonsense and not addressing the essence of my post.

I have no problem in showing a valid ID to vote. Even Stacey Abrams agrees with that. Also, to be fair to MLB, that bill was more than about voter ID. Check it out.
